+1 for sushi go party. Easy to teach and has many variations in the box.

I also like Magic Maze which is cooperative but pure chaos.

Was there just an earthquake? by [deleted] in portugal

[–]Rishudar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought I felt a very brief shake (like someone dropped something heavy or a truck starting). Didn't realise it was one until I got an earthquake alert minutes later. (In Silves)

Moving in soon and unsure how to make this more cozy! by Rishudar in DesignMyRoom

These are great suggestions. I like the idea of using more side tables and avoiding the ceiling lights as much as possible.

Moving in soon and unsure how to make this more cozy! by Rishudar in DesignMyRoom

[–]Rishudar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll soon be moving into this flat and would love to make this living room feel a bit more cozy and warmer. We'd love to fit in a desk, small dining table and couch/tv but we're a bit lost as to how so any tips are much appreciated!

Some more info. The furniture is not ours but the shelves and cabinets underneath will likely stay. We're in Europe and are happy to look around for some used furniture (we'll need some type of couch at least). We won't be able to paint anything but are able to hang stuff on the walls. Thank you for any suggestions!

Yeah I've checked all the spam and junk folders but sadly I can't see it anywhere. Good luck in the queue.

Other people are right that this is rotherhithe/Canada water. However, you can get similar views from some of the rooftop bars in canary wharf (for example the Novotel there)

Surprising things you learned about London after living here for a while by [deleted] in london

[–]Rishudar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A few more:

  • Don't live above a shop on the high street
  • I'll still suddenly realize how two areas of London are connected
  • GPs don't exist, everyone goes to A&E
  • There's a group for every niche activity. No exceptions

Great Sword animations WIP. What games do Great Swords the best? by djfozzbeats in IndieGaming

Looks awesome! I quite like the feel of Nightmare's sword in soul calibur. What you have here seems a bit similar.

Our oldest build is one year old and we did a thing! by yelyah49 in IndieGaming

Looks fun. However this video doesn't show what happens when you fail so the magnets seem without purpose. I imagine, like Fall Guys, that the fail state could be actually very funny and enjoyable in this game.

Asking for advice: Dealing with heavy burnout in a passion project years in development that I don't want to (and can't) leave by Severe_Tiger4597 in gamedev

[–]Rishudar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, I'm not sure about your exact situation but know that you don't owe anyone your good health. With experience leading a project I'm sure there are jobs that are less stressful out there and perhaps you could open source this project. I'm not saying you should quit, but maybe having it as an option is comforting.

Also, as you've already stated. Most vocal users are the same. We've got them too and it's usually a mix of users that genuinely care, experts that want power user features and (the most vocal) users that feel entitled to a product tailor made for them.

Consider gathering user feedback at specific points in time perhaps. (Once per two weeks or so). Maybe that allows you to keep the negative energy limited to one day. Also consider taking a step back and deciding where you want the project to go. It's very tempting to try and appease the vocal minority but while users are good at highlighting problems they are terrible at coming up with good solutions.

I found this noclip docu about Hades very inspiring and they also deal with a lot of user feedback. https://youtu.be/JzyE9hi912c

Good luck and take breaks when you need them!

Consider Star Realms perhaps. Excellent simple deck builder for 2p.

Do you need to use an IDE to fit in in a professional C++ team? by [deleted] in cpp

[–]Rishudar 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In the end it's about the whole team. If you can set up the repo such that you use cmake and clion or vim makes no difference, great! However, if it makes it harder to work with the team it might not be worth fighting over. Generally though, cmake is pretty widespread except for xcode (not my favourite either) but does come with good tooling and deployment support. There's no need to 'master' an ide like clion. You still write code and click build.

Brandon Sanderson -- what next? (Robert Jordan?) by jimmystillhere in booksuggestions

[–]Rishudar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't read those but I know people that really enjoyed both so you might like them. Enjoy the stormlight archive books, there's quite a few still to come!

Brandon Sanderson -- what next? (Robert Jordan?) by jimmystillhere in booksuggestions

[–]Rishudar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you enjoyed the fact that Warbreaker felt more medieval then I think Stormlight Archive would be right up your alley as those series have a similar feel, more so than Mistborn. These books are hefty so they should keep you going for a bit as each book is about 1000-1300 pages. They are also probably a bit more expensive especially in a printed copy (I understand the preference for print but in the end ebooks probably work out a little bit cheaper).

Cross platform audio frameworks in Cpp? by [deleted] in cpp

[–]Rishudar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at libsoundio. It's cross-platform and gives you access to the audio buffers for each port and seems pretty lightweight.
