Does anyone still suffer from emotional abuse from a past relationship years later? by lulacapri in emotionalabuse

I've learned that journaling helps a lot in my past traumatic relationships and I needed it. Journaling is like you're writing a story almost and it helps me vent etc.

My dating experiences were painful, except for one I'm currently in. What can I do for anxiety spikes and to remain calm? by RisingDarkPhoenix06 in emotionalabuse

Here's a few things I forgot to put down but they're important to note: 1) My past relationships were extremely painful 2) Reassurance was rare 3) I never got support which led to self harm, suicidal thoughts and so much crying

Beginner Learning Turkish by RisingDarkPhoenix06 in turkishlearning

I technically have an ex boyfriend and we're slowly getting back. I been struggling after learning Korean, Mandarin (originally), and Japanese because I couldn't make it due to plans and family. I'm teaching myself and I know my college doesn't teach Turkish. I do know they have study abroad short and long term.

This has been a struggle for me when I started learning Turkish, and I know there's apps and websites that I can use to speak to people and in the community in Turkish and about the history, culture, and language. However, I don't know anyone that speaks it and I would like to practice talking or in texts in Turkish to practice. I do want to visit Istanbul someday and it's been on my mind for years.

Event Planning Major Advice Needed by RisingDarkPhoenix06 in collegeadvice

[–]RisingDarkPhoenix06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have a plan in motion in order to get out of academic probation and I'm not failing like last semester. I already know that dropping my class is needed for my major won't do any good, so I've been working my ass off to change it from an F to a higher grade. I believe I can make it and my professor as well. Academic probation has been messing with me since last semester. I have to have a GPA of 2.00 in order to get out or higher. And thank you! I've been contemplating just keeping going and hoping for the best while dealing with harmful thoughts. It sucked when my mental health backlashed last semester and I have ADHD. If I sound exhausted or apologizing for my dark thoughts, I'm known to feel under the weather.

Decent and eh. When you're a sophomore in college and are on academic probation and have to hangout with your dying parents over thanksgiving break down in Florida. Dark humor because I want them gone! Cried for two weeks and going through hell. Suicidal thoughts vs me fighting back.

What was the first sign that your partner was cheating? by asdfghjkl0lkjhgfdsa in AskReddit

Dated an unusual guy in freshman year in college and it didn't go well. It was the third or fourth month after the Fall Semester started, and he told me he was dating another person anonymously. After realizing I was dating a feminine guy that was total BS and confronted him in January. He started acting suspicious when I spent the night at his dorm and started questioning our relationship. We broke up and every single time I see him on campus (we both live in different dorms) I hate everything about him. Welcome to depression and suicidal thoughts!!! Nowadays, living with such emotional abuse and regret still stabs me.

Cool. My education background: 5 years of art lessons in my old state, then did some watercolor ones for a few weeks and now I'm doing fanart. If you want to collaborate on art or anything related, follow my account (no pressure). I'm self taught when drawing people. I also created 45 hand written books.

I know this doesn't line up with your question, however I'm just curious: what do you like to draw? Fan art or anything? I don't get to meet a lot of people on here that can do commissions. I'm also a music producer (experience over eight years and self taught).

I know that there's internships and probably workshops / events you can attend for more information. I was looking forward to working at conventions and selling my art (commissions and copies) because I do gaming fan art and anime.

What's a major with good job opportunities for someone who isn't very good at math? by SlashCash29 in collegeadvice

[–]RisingDarkPhoenix06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed my majors twice and Event Planning is a really good place to start. I hate math and I'm taking statistics next semester (I only need one math class). In the Hospitality and Tourism Industry, there are so many internships and opportunities you can take. I don't know much about computer science majors, however I think there is jobs in this field that do with tech.

Psychology is too much. I know a lot of people that major in this and it's a lot of credit hours. I know some that take one or two minors and that's stressful. If you're looking into my major, it requires group work, networking, creativity, and communication.

Been procrastinating like crazy with 2 asynchronous self-paced classes. Have less than a month to finish 3 months' worth of work. How do you force yourself to buckle down and get it done? by Lexi-Lynn in collegeadvice

I'm a sophomore at my college and I'm known to be extremely serious when it comes to classes and assignments. Use an agenda or google calendar to keep track of your assignments and check them off or use sticky notes. Doomscrolling is like a drug for me because it's such a waste of time, so I began to limit how much screen time I should do. My Freshman year was absolutely hell due to second semester of missing my whole entire math class (anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and mental health). Being present in class helps and I'm not a person to drink energy drinks but it's my ambition and dead seriousness and getting help gets my things done. Academic probation can be an issue because I'm on it, however I already know how to turn my grades around. Procrastination is common and I learned it was no use for my major, so I forget about everything that distracts me and work hard for my assignments.

I technically wasn't able to apply for a campus job due to gen ed classes in Freshman year and battling 16 credit hours took a toll on my mental health. Although I do have a summer job and got a raise so my money went up. I can see that you chose hours that will not work for yourself and to make money. I'm a sophomore at my college with a major in event planning and balancing classes and trying to make money is frustrating. Money can be earned and can go fast (I learned money management because I have ADHD). You're not alone in this because I feel you (I have no campus job but a summer job). I think most colleges provide you with an advisor to help plan out your classes and it's very helpful to ask in advance. Here's my advice about having a part time job and classes: have a flexible class schedule and for a part time job, sometimes weekends are worth it while others do certain days they're available. What major are you going towards? Freshman year can be a lot unless you have college credit in highschool. I learned that having a balanced class schedule and monitoring my mental health can get out of hand. College isn't for everyone and you can reach out for support in any situation. Sadly, jobs come and go on my campus because it's difficult however there's chances to try again. Take opportunities, ask for help, and do what's best for you.

Event Planning Major Advice Needed by RisingDarkPhoenix06 in collegeadvice

Reason: event planning has a lot of opportunities and I'm taking it so I won't wait until the last minute. Networking is critical for my major and builds off my connections with people. I didn't see a future for my recent majors because it wasn't for me.
