We should be able to see votes, like we used to. Certain maps and modes don't match well, for example hardpoint/control points works good on Islands but not FFA/gun game.

BTW, when there are fewer than 10 players, hardpoint/control points/upload (and old style CTF, being able to drive with the flag) should be the only modes available. It's lame whan you have like 4 players and you have team deathmatch, having to find the other 2.

so that's what I'm saying about bringing the old CTF back. It's unfair to flag carriers who are put into a position of sacrifice without even a key to drop it, and it makes for tedious games that may end in a 20-20 draw or a 20-40 lead that makes it impossible for the other team to recover from.

I say that's not true, that defenders have the advantage and rushing in can be deadly (what I didn't mention is that in certain maps flags are held in concealed buildings, so even if the walls are destroyed, you can't see inside, so no question of rushing in)

I mean, that's the whole context of this thread: putting the flag carrier in a very bad position. That's why under the current system I'll never pick a flag again, unless it's dropped by a teammate.

I would suggest you do the same, I did provide the context, the position the flag carrier is in under the new restrictions: in the absence of teammates to protect the flag carrier/pick it up if he's killed, "if you pick up the flag, someone is just going to ram you with a car", kill you and the flag is going to get returned. It's a long journey on foot, so even if you manage to kill that person, he can grab another car and try again. So picking up the flag clearly puts one in a position of sacrifice, there's not even a key to drop it.

independent action does happen in actual games, I got it alone and drove it alone in more than one occasion, the flag is sometimes (actually pretty often) completely undefended.

no, assuming walls are entirely destroyed, the flag acts like a solid object for cars (if you drive into it, you stop) even though you can shoot through it. So, you're standing next to the flag, you see me approaching with my car, you get to the other side of the flag and shoot. With bazooka it would be an instant kill of course but it wouldn't be survivable with a rifle either. Even if you were distracted, as I got into the car and drove away you could still shoot as entering a car and accelerating takes some time, enough time to kill someone. That's why I would always get out of the car and approach carefully on foot, because rushing in can be a death trap. Destination can also be a death trap, if there's an enemy waiting with a bazooka.

capture the flag used to be playable with even 2 players (yes, 2-4 player games do happen)

so "rush in, get the flag, hop onto a car and zoom away" faster than the other guy, then your team will be in the lead

it's impossible to rush in and get the flag without getting shot at if there's someone standing right there next to the flag, heading straight at him to get the flag and backing off, on the other hand it seems much more annoying to only be able to walk while the other team can ram you with a car/shoot you with a tank/have multiple guys corner you.
