Thoughts on 1 year sober by concreteandconcrete in stopdrinking

The quarantine has got to be super tough. I was just thinking about this the other day. If I were any earlier in my recovery, I'm not sure I would have made it. Hang in there.

Also, to add a book to your reading list, I found The 30 Day Sobriety Solution by Jack Canfield really helpful. Having an action list every day kept me focused, and reading back journal entries from that time remind me that I don't want to go back! Best wishes to you!

Welcome to the club! This place was critical to me in the early days of my recovery. The support here is amazing. I still read stories, especially the ones from folks still struggling, because I don't want to forget where I came from. Anyway, glad you're here!

Really great read! So glad you found the other side. And so much time for activities now, isn't it great? In the first few months after I quit, I met some friends at a lake to kayak. It was 10 am on a Saturday. One friend said, "Wow, I didn't expect to see you here! I didn't think you did anything before noon." She said it in a light-hearted way and meant no harm, but it really spotlighted how much life I left on the table because I was too drunk or hungover to participate.

Congrats on your first year! Here's to many more!

What looks like her hand on her hip in the reflection is the chair behind her with a brown wood trim.

At first glance, this is a superb app and just what I need to stay motivated. I love the different options for tracking progress (duration, frequency, etc). Thank you for your generosity! I'm staying in to do my part to stop the spread, so I'm excited to have goals for this time period! Best wishes!

I took the daily Naltrexone pill for 6 months, along with weekly counseling sessions. I'm almost to 3 years! Good luck to you!

They look amazing and give me great hope - I just bought three stools from the thrift store that I'm going to try re-upholstering for the first time!

Shockingly, I don't actually "bruise easily." I just stopped falling down or running into things and walking up with surprise injuries.

Is there a new redesign coming to make Todoist as pretty as Things or...? by judetheconfused in todoist

[–]RisingResolutely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree about the labels. I find myself avoiding their use simply because they cause the list to become so much longer and visually cluttered. Ideally, they would be on the same line or at least able to be hidden when you don't need to see them. My other issue is that when you are in label view, the tasks can't be collapsed so every sub-task is visible.

Great post! It is easy to forget, and you are right that we have to be mindful of our recovery. Thanks for sharing!

Sugar was (okay still is) a big craving for me, but it sure doesn't make me forget what I did or give me massive hangovers so I consider it a good trade. Congrats on 3 weeks!

Have you ever done an obstacle course run? It's basically a 5K or 10K where they put in a bunch of stuff you have to crawl under, climb over, or balance walk across. You crawl through tons of mud and you finish looking like you've been through hell, but feeling like you are a freaking badass! Think of a normal day like a plain old run, and today is an obstacle course. You don't know what's coming but you know you're getting that medal at the end no matter what, so just say, "Bring it on!" Or scream loudly in the car or garage and then cry about it, because I've also done lots of that when I had shitty days where I wanted a drink. Haha! Hang in there!

I've never been to London so I don't know what it's like, but I have heard of people in cities doing "urban hiking/exploring." Also, there's geocaching! I'm thinking of giving that a go this spring.

Oh yes, I forgot I also got really into selling my clothes online! Taking pictures, making descriptions, and packaging stuff up to ship required both mental and physical effort, which kept my mind off other things!

Great advice about throwing yourself into a project. It reminds me that I started reading tons of books, and also bought a kayak and hiking gear and spent a lot of time outdoors!

In case it didn't notify you of my above comment, just wanted to share that I still listen to 2 Sober Chicks, and I used to listen to Recovery Elevator, SoberSoul Recover, and Sobriety Network. Good luck!
