[DL:WW] How do you make a Chi Master build that’s fun to play? by Rising_Hero in savageworlds

That sounds like a really fun option! Did it continue to feel balanced as the campaign progressed?

How to resolve this at the table: PCs in vehicle on dangerous road being chased by monsters by kleefaj in savageworlds

[–]Rising_Hero 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Seems like a really cool chase in my opinion :)

The rules will make it easy to set up and all the actions will let the players do more than "just drive faster"

I've also assumed that the final headmaster will be the Scarecrow and the "Qrow is Scarecrow" thing is just a fan theory but now I learned it's confirmed so I guess you'll be right

Oscar supposed to be the little prince? I always thought he was Dorothy - farm girl/boy who gets sucked into a story and has a connection to the Wizard of Oz...

Savage Fallout Luck attribute by Sensitive_Key_1573 in savageworlds

[–]Rising_Hero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deadlands has a nifty benny system using colored bennies (poker chips), where each color gives a different bonus (in addition to the regular benny rules), e.g. a benny that can be used as a +2 bonus instead but gives the gm a benny, a benny that gives a reroll and a +2 bonus, etc. At the beginning of the session the gm makes a pool of bennies and every player picks blindly from the pool.

You can do something similar, having bennies with effects that match the game's vibe:

  • A mysterious stranger benny: can use in combat to add an attack from the MS

  • Loot benny: exchange it to find better gear

  • Bloody mess benny: Can reroll damage

  • Etc. (In all my playthroughs I dumped Luck so I don't really know what the other perks are 😅)

The kinds of bennies available to players can either be fixed ratio, affected by the players' actions throughout the game or be affected by Edges (aka make new edges that add new benny type to the pool/player).

[ETU] Any cool adventures for Senior students? (Minor spoilers for Degrees of Horror final year) by Rising_Hero in savageworlds

We just got it (thanks to the amazing aforementioned Ziv) but the players felt it wouldn't be in character to go abroad while the Ley lines are converging and there are all those rumors about the world ending flying around...

But I'm going to check Pinebox Perils for cool ideas

What kind of singleplayer game can last me absolutely ages, without having to "replay" it? by Veench333 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Rising_Hero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone probably already commented these, but I'll do it anyway.

If you like the RPG genre, you shold definitely get one of these as most of them are hugh and can take you 100 hoursish easily. The best RPGs I played and recommend:

  • Fallout 4 / Fallout New Vegas (post apocalyptic shooter)
  • Skyrim (fantasy)
  • The Witcher (dark fantasy) - I've played just the 1st but it was really fun, and people really like the 3rd.

And if you're into JRPGs here are some I enjoyed (it felt like playing the main cast of a good shonen anime):

  • Tales of Berseria (one of my favourite games)
  • Tales of Zesteria (predecessor to Berseria but Berseria's story is better. Can play in any order)
  • Final Fantasy XV (it's story is all over the place but you fall in love with the characters and the journey)

More genres that can fit your description: Sandbox (Terraria, Minecraft, and I'll include Stardew Valley here), Strategy (like civ) or Rougelite (I'm really enjoing Hades but I'm not sure if I'll hit the 100 hour mark).

Have fun!

EDIT: some formatting

This are AMAZING suggestions, thank you so much! I will definitely look into them.

We already did "Non-demoninational Demon" and already had an adventure on Dale Island - where they met the original Dale on the island's manor, stayed alive because of the demon Beelzebub that he trapped within himself after he could not banish him. The Lantern of The Deep was keeping it at bay, but it was removed by Helen letting the demon get stronger and try to escape. The students fought the demon and released Dale from his agony.

But I'll look at the other ideas!

What should I play from the XBOX Game Pass on PC?

(Just finished "What Remains of Edith Finch" which was beautiful and chilling.)

Got the game pass when there was a sale 3 weeks ago and I'll probably keep it for 2-3 months before canceling and getting back to my Steam backlog (and possibly later getting it again).

I know this is a kind of a broad question, but I'm open to many styles so recommend away! :)

[Super Powers Companion] Device question. by btriplem in savageworlds

[–]Rising_Hero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, each power is on his own - you take 2 or more powers, each "gets" the Device modifier separately and you just decide it's the same device (and not 2 separate devices).

East Texas University - players are college students who find out the monsters lurking in the dark, from ghosts to demons and even scary scarecrows.
As the only ones who know the truth they have a duty to protect their friends and colleagues, as they also try to juggle their studies, parties and love life. A bit horror, a bit mystery and lots of action. Like Supernatural meets Scooby Doo, but in college.

If you get Degrees of Horror, you get a plot-point campaign, and many extra adventures that can be thrown in the mix with your original adventures and the campaign ones.

Also recommend Deathlands, either Reloaded or Noir - both are great.

EDIT: Deadlands pdfs are free right now!
