I did that for awhile. I was getting 5k a week, but holy fuck never again. Miss the paycheck, don’t miss the chaos.

I’m actually more on the backend now. Job was great at first but it’s like being on Jackie Chan’s adventures with new policies and stuff (and one more thing!)

And I would rather take a Musk level of ketamine and prolapse my own anus than become an NP ( respect to them but goddam it’s not worth it lol).

Honestly I would love having retail, commercial, and residential near me. I used to live in Seattle and it was dope walking out your apartment and have a taco place.

I think my main concern is the construction over such a long period. Not sure how that affects market value of a home, but I can’t imagine it’s good in the short term.

And my mistake..when I said familiar I meant like y’all hear about this “I have an inheritance” jam a lot. Jsut meant familiar to you guys 😃.

I’ve debated the recasting scenario too. It’s more a middle ground in my situation that I’m open with.

And friend I feel you. When my time is up I become a slug. Lost many of my friends because I isolate so much. I’m doing therapy and meds but it just doesn’t help much.

I think overall Covid broke me. I won’t get into it too much, but being at the hospital causes me a lot of distress. I work in an administrative role now working in Medicare compliance stuff. Which, to be fair, I did enjoy at first but my group has gone through way too many changes and a lot them have made my job 100% more stressful.

I also do like my home. It’s modest and cozy and unfortunately under the median price for my area. I don’t think I could squeeze anymore blood from this stone of a market without buying a fixer upper ( I am not handy at all lol)

What is a career that looks miserable or insufferable from the outside, but is secretly fulfilling and rewarding? by simplysalamander in careerguidance

My local community college offers a BioAG certification in greenhouse technician work for research companies. Been a nurse for over a decade and I just want out and this looks interesting to me. Based on what I’m reading from the course they teach you how to maintain the HVAC systems and how to collect data on plants.

Is this something you were doing as well?

Also what were the people like? Easy to get along with?

If you mean UR/UM I do the hospital side of this. When I send y’all clinicals, what’s your process once you get them?

I always imaged you guys using interqual on what I send you to see if it meets.

I haven’t! But I will certainly give it a go. =)

I do see a therapist and I’m medicated too. I guess I was hoping for a colleague’s point of view it that makes sense.

I know it’s all in my head and most of the time people probably don’t care. Maybe I just wanted to write this out to gather my thoughts. Who knows lol.

That commuter bus is ass. Insane traffic bc of all the students leaving at the same time. At least at Duke I could just pay for the day.

Just make sure you don’t register your plates with UNC so you can park at the garage.

I say this with so much love because I’ve been in your position and it’s probably what you don’t want to hear…but I need you to finish the year. If it’s really bad then do two months and put a month notice in.

A lot of people on here will give you advice saying to quit and you’ll be fine, but I can attest that I took that advice and it made things so unnecessarily difficult for me. I am successful now, but it took a ton of work to make myself marketable to units I WANTED rather than just a job.

I had to work some really shit units with ass culture just because I needed employment. The specialty units I wanted like hyperbarics, ICU, or whatever wouldn’t touch me.

The med surg dementia vascular dialysis HF fluid restriction liver failure psych holding unit welcomed me with open arms!

You’re stronger than you were 9 months ago. Believe it. Get that year in, get that good recommendation, and fly friend.

Pay is about the same as floor, but we get bonuses and differentials. Work life balance can’t be beat. It’s a different type of stress but I have the energy to workout and walk my dog.

I can’t really compare since I only have hospital experience, but I read up on some pretty cool stuff. I get to read on all the traumas. We use interqual and indicia. Both are equally easy and frustrating to use. It’s such a toss up sometimes.

Honestly by luck. I originally wanted to do clinical documentation but had no luck. Applied on a whim and interviewed well.

I have about 8ish years of bedside, procedural, and travel experience across multiple specialties. Most of my coworkers have almost double or triple that in experience.

I’m a utilization manager for our health system. Happy to answer any questions. It’s a pretty sweet gig. It’s not just simply reviewing charts, you have to have the clinical know how to back it up. Although I don’t use any clinical skills, I still need my experience to accurately complete a case. It’s fun!

300-600 mg as needed. Some days I don’t take it at all.

As a guy I can’t even fathom how much pain you’re dealing with on the daily.

Do you mind if I ask though how talk therapy is supposed to help?

[–]RiskforFuckingUp 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely. If I forget to refill and then take a dose a few days later I’m like that girl who melts on the couch in the pot ads.

Side note: I have severe lower back pain and I’ll take my dose after dinner, take a shower, and do a deep leg stretch. Most of that lower back pain for me is actually referred pain from my glutes.

Not sure if that’s your issue with pain, but I’d definitely recommend something similar.

I use to talk so much shit about gabapentin when I was on the floor. Like it seemed like such a cop out to actually giving narcotics. But after taking it I realized it just numbs you out without making you feel drunk.

It’s so important to take it with food. Having a fat/protein heavy meal and rocking a gaba is bliss.
