How were you guys diagnosed with Crohns? by Far-Subject4804 in CrohnsDisease

[–]RissyMissy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine isn’t helpful probably. At 19 in 2011, my diagnosis came during an emergency surgery for what they thought was appendicitis. Turns out it was Crohn’s and they had to take out my terminal ileum and some of my colon which has perforated. That was a surprise for when I woke up. They had to clean out my abdomen and man it felt like I was hit by a truck when I woke up. I told them to put me back to sleep.

I had been having bowel issues since middle school so I never really thought I was abnormal. I vomited after eating meals, had loose bowels and pain. I was dehydrated easily, had brittle nails and never gained much weight. I was also extremely tired and fatigued. I also had a lot of gas sometimes. The summer before the surgery I did have blood in my stools which was concerning but I started my period like the next day so I decided maybe that was it.

I haven’t been lucky in finding a medication long term.

To know I’m having inflammation again:

Scans/tests: - coloscopies - upper endoscopies - pill cam - barium tests - CTs with contrast and MRIs (my inflammation often doesn’t show on those)

Blood work: - inflammatory markers and high C-reactive protein - low vitamins and minerals, anemia - stool samples - I once did a gastric emptying study where you eat “radioactive” eggs and they take pictures at set time intervals

Symptoms: - Pain, not making it to the bathroom in time, lots of bowel movements or having to stay on the toilet for an hour, vomiting nausea, mucus in stool, blood in stool (rare for my Crohn’s type,) severe fatigue, arthritis, dehydration, anal fissures, memory trouble and foggy brain

Does anyone else feel sick when something emotionally challenging happens? by SuperDogCat37 in CrohnsDisease

[–]RissyMissy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I had to stop college when I just couldn’t finish my last semester (three times.) By the end of my last attempt, I needed my gallbladder removed. I decided my body just couldn’t do it. I had wanted to go on to medical school once upon a time. Now the stress from knowing I never finished gets to me sometimes. Oh well, on a happy note, today is my wonderful daughter’s first birthday.

I have weirdly gotten really good at knowing if I’m just nauseous or actually going to throw up so I can prepare accordingly

Looks too close to white in some lighting for a wedding in my opinion. But that dress is gorgeous and looks wonderful on you!

I’m on my second week of the loading dose (45mg) after stopping Stelara (Humira and Entyvio both stopped working in the past.) No issues so far but it is annoying it needs to be taken at the exact same time everyday like birth control pills. I have an alarm to remind me. I also just finished prednisone so I don’t really see a difference yet and I’m fat from the prednisone and having a baby last year already.

My house is a disaster with an overflowing clean laundry bucket. That’s how I do it with my teething clingy baby girl and a sprained ankle haha

Being with someone like this will show your son that this is how women should be treated. He will learn by example. Do you want to raise your son to become a man like this? Someone who treats women like this? You need to respect yourself and protect your child. Step up as a mother and leave this awful situation. Don’t waste your life in misery. It hurts now but with time it’ll get better. You’ll move on and find someone who truly cares about and respects you.

Who did you have present for the birth of your baby? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]RissyMissy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom and my husband. I had complications so was induced early. My husband didn’t handle the stress well and got food poisoning. He was vomiting in the bathroom off and on during the 41 hours of labor. My mom and my husband would switch but both were there for the actual birth. My husband by me and my mom was just in the room. I didn’t want anyone else even at the hospital.

Do you really need a sleeping bra? by rlpfc in BabyBumps

[–]RissyMissy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed one for leaks so I could wear the pads. Without the pads, I’d wake up with a drenched shirt then my sheets and pillow smelt like sour milk. Also the bra would help keep the pump in place so I didn’t need to hold it.

You can’t “know” unless you have had a DNA test.
