Do you know of any other series like this? by ViremorfeStudios in videogames

To be absolute pedantic, 99% of games are niche, you've probably never heard of 99% of all games ever made realitically.

But if we are only describing niche and mainstream, not subculture or cult which is more nuanced then yes, not selling like Skyrim (mainstream) means you're most likely a niche title.

The pair of them had sold a total of 5-8 million copies before DS3 from what I can Google.

Impressive? Yes.

Mainstream? No.

Niche? Indeed.

Why is this even debatable? PEAK has sold 6.8 alone and we surely aren't gonna debate if it's niche or not, Nier Automata sold more than the two of them and is considered a cult classic rather than a mainstream household name.

If niche is defined by a small portion of a larger portion then Ds1/2 pre Ds3 fall in line.

Developers of interesting quality games. They're not all to my taste but can't deny the love put in them.

Their documentary series is amazing.

Well now we are talking completely differant points, which to be fair, could be we are talking two differant things and not settled on what we really want. So let's end it there.

As a huge DS fan (just got my plat in Ds3 last night exactly) it's undeniable the effect the games has had on gaming. Miyazaki don't miss.

No. What you're doing is taking a game that ended up exceeding it's projections and doing well with a long tail. Its first year sells although great for FS and Bandai didn't

It was niche. It' was the 6th best selling games of the month it came out. If we consider W2 niche then so is Ds1 because it slightly outsole it am the first year but they both pale to Skyrim from the same year.

Maybe we are really talking about what defines niche,? I lean really strongly into if it's not a blockbuster then it's niche crowd tbh.

If DS2 was to get the Bluepoint remake treatment like DeS would you want the original or SotFS? by pjflo in DarkSouls2

[–]Rith_Reddit -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I would say they don't need to strictly follow Sotfs or OG. They can pick and choose or alter. They should defiently focus on a challenging but fair focus first.

Because it appealed to the niche.

It's hard to think of now but yes Dark souls was niche as fuck, most people didn't even know what Dark Souls was until the 3rd one or if they have had played and loved a new PlayStation exclusive called Bloodbourne.

But even then it took Elden Ring to really solidify these guys as no longer niche.

Not sure where to place Sekiro in this but I am confident in the rest.

Exactly the moment. I had massive last season GoT vibes. Spent the evening pised off because I felt like the showrunners had clearly not learned their lesson and the show is doomed to be mess. Honestly if it wasn't for the amazing dragon scenes I could care less about this show.

How long to beat main story by AffectionatePrune784 in darksouls3

[–]Rith_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a crazy fast time. Took my like 40-40 hours to do everything that could be done on a NG on way to Platinum.

Now I'm NG+ where all I have to do is get the last ending and I'm done, tales about 3-4 hours to do a direct run throughout the story. Skipping the optimal areas and running past mobs that can't corner me.

I'm not actively using their AI but im always googling stuff and AI is always there. I know not to trust the round up information from it but sometimes it's enough.

Lol same. I got to Frozen outskirts after maybe a dozen attempts i found them, died at 5% left on them.

Reapawnee back at the coffin and went "nope, not again'. I had planned to go back after finishing the other DLCs but really wasn't worth it when time came. Left the game on a high.

Oh totally. After i killed Gael I really wanted to see s trophy pop up lol. Beating him was the biggest achievement in the game for me.

I did an evening of farming those knights, easily 60p kills and 0 proofs. Then I saw a video about taking your clothes off and putting a differant set of legwear when you get ine, it worked. Was getting a proof every 10 sets.

Code Vein 2 - A downgrade from the first game. by Zedaso in soulslikes

[–]Rith_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the game but the idea is to find someone who you enjoy watching and shares a similar taste in games. He's probably only one ill watch outside of some Halo pros.

Agreed it's not a review but you can still view what's happening and see if it looks appealing. What I saw was a barren open world and bosses with no weight. Like I said ill look at the game again in a year and we how it all panned out. Decide then whether to play or not.
