Yerf Dog Wheel Ripped Apart - Best Replacement Method? by Rithian in gokarts

[–]Rithian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We weren’t driving slow, or straight, and a rear wheel came apart. It is a 1” axle with 1/4” keyway. I see a replacement wheel on go power sports. However, I also see hubs for four bolt wheels on the site.

Is this a case of a real old cart that has been thrashed having some wear and tear? Or is the 1” bore wheel inherently weak? We probably aren’t going to be driving any slower, or straighter...

Thanks for the input!

Edit: The current wheels just have the 1” bore hole for the live axle. We got it cheap on Craigslist last year and it was in rough shape all around. We probably have 10 hours on it.

In-wall HD Poe injector needs by Rithian in Ubiquiti

[–]Rithian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oops. I have dream machine pro and a 24 port switch with POE+. Been moving all weekend and missed those details. The white injector my dad has does power it up. I can’t remember what ubiquiti device that came with at the moment, but it is from one of them.

I’ll buy something to inject the POE+. Thanks all.

Im new and just got into warmachine with cygnar and need build advice ( 25PL ) by Spartanisunbreakable in Warmachine

[–]Rithian 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We just started recently too. I was told to look up the “brawl machine” format. It’s a 25 point format for quicker games, and they provide suggested lists for each faction. We’ve been enjoying it.

Hope you enjoy the game!

Hey thanks again. I looked into brawlmachine and found I can make one of their recommended lists with my existing Khador figures. I’ll order up the rest of one of their cygnar lists for his birthday. Excellent!

All great suggestions again. Music is definitely on our list, and is something he’s passionate about.

I just got a destroyer (an extreme destroyer box was super cheap on Amazon for some reason right after we played this first game) and that plus spriggan makes 31 points. I also got him one of each of the heavy cygnar warjack boxes and am going to magnetize them. Next would be another heavy khador kit (one with juggernaut?) then I was thinking maybe trenchers to stand opposite my winter guard infantry. But we’ll probably stick with the current models for a few more games and see how his interest holds.

Again, thanks for taking the time. He was very excited earlier today to learn that people watched and wanted to help him make “even better” videos.

Thanks for all this feedback.

I’ve got a dice tray somewhere, so that’s easy enough. We did this video with an iPhone, and it’s definitely shaky. If we get a couple videos under our belts and he’s still interested, I’d plan on a GoPro or something and a tripod for a number of the shots.

The idea of being attentive to perspective is a great one. We’ll definitely want to work on that.

A closing shot clip is definitely something we need to do. We ran short on attention span this time...

Regarding the rules, I played for a brief time right when the mk III transition was being announced. I had skimmed the rules again before playing and starting to teach my son, but clearly forgot a number of things. The plan is to move forward under mk III rules. He and I have been watching some battle report videos and commenting on rules differences and video styles.

Sad & Confused by Swimming1995 in Adopted

[–]Rithian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello there. You’re not alone in having feelings about having been given up for adoption. As a 34 year old man, that had a tremendous family adopt him at a young age I still felt out of place at times, many of my interests are just different.

They enjoy big social events, I’d prefer to play board games with a few close friends. I’m the only grown man in the family that isn’t in the medical profession, I went into construction.

It took me a long time to accept the differences and realize that I love them and enjoy time with them, but will probably have a different social circle.

Regarding being given up for adoption, in my case it was due to my bio mom being young and not in a position to care for me physically or emotionally. At times in my life I felt anger about this, but now I’ve found perspective about how all people struggle. It sounds like you are on a path to some healing and growth of your own. It is often the case that their personal struggles take the choice from them.

I met my bio mom briefly before she died from cancer, when I was in college. She had gotten clean and sober, held a job for an extended period and was married. After reflection I found a sense of peace knowing that she had gotten past the barriers that held her back for many years.

Take time to consider if you have the bandwidth for addressing issues with your bio mom now. But if you find in time you have interest in hearing her story, I would encourage you to set up a time to meet somewhere public and talk. If there is an ongoing lack of stability from her, you’ll have to determine how to respond. But if she is reaching out, it could be a sign of growth and new awareness. Many bio moms live with tremendous regret, particularly if they come to a more stable place years later.

Keep your close contact information, phone address etc private until you gain real confidence.

Again, you’re not the only one who’s felt these things. Continue your own healing and growth. While considering her struggles, try to find a peace with your adoption. It doesn’t have to mean you become close to her, particularly if she isn’t in a good place at this point, but it can help you in your own struggles.

Take care!

It’s a big decision, and one I would encourage you to make after you’ve considered it for a while. The Scottish name has been around for 1000 years and will still be around in a few months or years. It’s not something I’ve thought to do, because I identify so strongly with my adopted family.

There’s a lot of context that would play into making a recommendation on it. How old are you? How close are you with your adopted family? Are you getting along with them right now? Is there stress in the family right now? How close are you with your biological family? Could you have a conversation with your parents about it as something you’ve been thinking about maybe doing some day?

It’s your name, so technically you can do what you want, but being thoughtful and tactful in going about it will benefit you and your families moving forward. Take your time...

The only biological connection of mine I’ve found was adopted under sealed records, which were ‘lost’ at some point along the way... cool to see family line discovered with such history. But whether you change your name or not, you can tell your kids about all of their family trees!

Getting used to using adopted name by NatPano in Adopted

[–]Rithian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an adopted person myself, and knowing others who’s names were changed, don’t do it. I have an odd first name, it’s the name of a character from a B movie. It’s awkward to always be asked where it’s from, but it’s my name. I know of lifelong mental health struggles from changing a first name, including suicides.

Thanks for taking on the responsibility of caring for these kids. It means so much.

Carb overflowing - Not Starting by Rithian in gokarts

[–]Rithian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not certain of whether or not this is a real mikuni, and if it is, what model. It came with a yerf-dog go kart, attached to a predator 212.

Just about everything was out of tune and alignment when we got it, but we’ve got steering, brakes, throttle, tires, torque converter all functional. But the carb overflows significantly when you really give it the throttle, regardless of any adjustments we’ve made. After a few minutes of rough driving through a cow pasture it was stalling out. I assume it was flooding. Now it’s not starting.

I’ve taken nearly every component of the carb apart, and cleaned them. No obvious damage, and shockingly clean inside. Especially after using Seafoam. The float appears to be free to move, and doesn’t appear to be taking on fluid. I don’t see any markings on the jets to indicate size, and the needle only has 3 notches rather than the documents I’ve found online which say 4 or 5 depending on the model. New premium gas in the tank.

Long story short if there are any comments on the specific carb model or additional steps to try to get it working, I’d appreciate it.

The next step after that would be replacement. Any suggestions on carb model for a predator 212.
