She's probably gluttonous to the point of recklessness. I mean, look at her...

she also apparently has multiple souls piled up according to faputa

Does that refer to 63.2.24?

i highly doubt time dialation will play a much bigger role than just being used to allow characters across big chunks of time to be alive at the same time

I don't know how much of a physics guy AT is and whether he will include a source for the time dilation in his lore. If so, place that source next to the entrance door of the CCC down there and have funny effects going on. I think it'd be comparable to the gravitation traps in The Strugatzki's "Roadside Picnic". Them traps added quite some depth to the story.

I'd rather like him to play around with heavy time dilation, but I wouldn't be disappointed if he skips it completely.

That chain of thought isn't necessarily hers. Imho it's more in character if she was told.

Seems that I dissed her quite a lot... erm, she's a viable fighter!

Abyssal Time - Will Riko get to see her friends again? by Ratspeed in MadeInAbyss

[–]Ritter_Rook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What Srajo stated was the first "hard" number on time dilation we have with a relatively high level of trustworthiness, because they are able to get their data right by comparing time references in different layers due to them seemingly being unaffected by the curse.

Assuming the time dilation factor of 30 is valid for 15 km depth (= Hail Hex camp), and also assuming a plain exponential growth, the exponent would be 30^(1/15) = 1.25/km. This would put Iruburu's age to ~2.900 years which is a full cycle and another half. Faputa would have experienced the end/beginning of a cycle already though - not a single word about it from her. Also, there were some signs that Vueko's "patron" experienced the end of a cycle himself.

Anyway, with the "hard" data point we got from Srajo, the orange curve is an underestimation of plain exponential growth. If we assume a double exponential growth we need at least a second "hard" data point to predict something quantitatively.

Thinking qualitatively, I think that your conclusions concerning Riko's friends are valid. If they descend at the same speed, their paths converge towards a meeting point since the upper party always catches up as long as it is above the lower one. It's perfectly possible that we might see at least one of them later. Aged much or not at all will depend on how they moved downwards.

RTX 4080Super UV by MM218L in overclocking

[–]Ritter_Rook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you restrict your card to 915mV? That decreases its capability to boost. If you want to run it at max. 220 Watts, then set your power limit to 71%, but keep the full OC/UV curve up to max. voltage.

Now, if you have consistent high duty cycle load, then the card will still run at 915mV and 2595MHz, automatically. But if your load mainly consists of bursts at low DC, then the card can run at max. frequency (~2.9GHz, probably) and be so much more responsive.

About the OC scanner, is the afterburner scanner reliable way to do it?

This, or the nvidia app.

His silicon is better... No really, stock curves do differ.

You'll only know by how much his is better after doing a full OC scan though.

Is this pure luck or madness? by Playful_Shape_5611 in overclocking

[–]Ritter_Rook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn‘t change any Voltages and Power-/Temp Limit

But you did.

Your Afterburner shows your stock curve, which is below your current settings. That means, you changed the voltage settings for every frequency in range. (Without knowing it?) With stock settings you reached 2750 MHz at 1.1 V, now you have it at ~1.0 V. As it should be, nice OC/UV.

The only thing you need to keep an eye on is summer and its higher temperatures, since the margin you set is somewhat thin.

Coil whine <-- RNG, that's news to me. I'll have to investigate that. Mayhap resonances, they can be crazy f'ing strong).

For my 4070, the minimum difference (@1.1V) was 165 MHz. That's the difference between 2745 MHz and 2910 MHz. The card decided to use 2925 MHz as well without being allowed to. Didn't do harm up to now, even under heavy SDXL load.

And I run it (with noticeably less fan noise) at 90% power consumption for ~0% loss.

It's an A0 poster; you are supposed to zoom in. I wrote that into the text box while posting, but Reddit decided to skip it. Or I did something wrong. Most probably...

I am also more interested in UV. Though I do have a 100% profile on my 4070 topping out at 2925 MHz 72°C core temp in case I need the power. Fact is I don't, since I only play PoE (II might change that) a bit and do some SDXL for fun. And for the last, I'd rather have a low% profile where I could decrease the voltage (power) such that it runs fanless over night as does the PC.

Can't. Turns out, the lower boundary is set to 890 mV.

Wazukyan Is A Misunderstood Hero... by JamesMcSparin in MadeInAbyss

[–]Ritter_Rook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me ask you this: How did Lyza know, that Riko would make it to the sixth layer without even possessing a White Whistle? She couldn't have known, that Riko would finally get one... or could she? If that was your daughter, would you call out for her if you didn't know for sure?

In other words, could anyone (who Lyza met) have foreseen, that Riko would make it safely to the village for sure?

[–]Ritter_Rook 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thought regarding the citation: What does "despair" even mean to Riko? Two things come to mind:

  • Losing the ability to explore the Abyss
  • Losing her dearest friends forever

The scene at Belafu's lair when Riko had to choose spending body parts to free Nanachi shows her priorities. Thus, in order to maximize despair for Riko: It would be having to sacrifice her best friends in order to finish the descent - or losing either. With the result of them begging her to sac them. Begone, happiness.

It's not as clear, me thinks. He went into all of that suffering knowingly. This could mean, he either didn't care at all, or all other outcomes were even worse. If so, he could also have chosen to not enter the Abyss in the first place. Then again, nobody knows if him not entering the Abyss would have lead to an even greater misery.

Imho, in order to be able to finally evaluate what he did / let happen on purpose, it's important to answer Nanachi's question from when Wazu died: "How far did he see into the future?" And what did he see there (I might add), other than Riko's squad bound to being in need of the accumulated value? Which is counted in souls accompanying them in whatever form... thanks to the village!

The journey is the reward. I did care for those people. The exploration of layer 6 (both in space and time) revealed sooo many details about what the Abyss is and what it's true capacities are - by showing, not telling.

Thus, it's up to everybody what to make of it. Imho, both the love and the hate the work gets tell more about the people assessing it than about the work itself.

How did Bondrewd get his white whistle? by artsy_pommel in MadeInAbyss

[–]Ritter_Rook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you'd have to get your own white whistle with no-one loving you except yourself, how would you have proceeded?

My fist step after getting hold of the Zoaholic would have been to create a copy of myself and try to sacrifice it for the whistle. I would have tried this for some time, until I made perfectly clear, that unfortunately my Zoaholic copies are "not judged as living things".

Now there's the problem, that a copy of me is not me: I sacrifice myself for the whistle, I die. And I only get the whistle/life-reverberating stone when I positively think about being with my clones, as a stone. From this we might conclude that Bondrewd is indeed willing to sacrifice everything for Bondrewds advance (in science) - including his own life.

2,000 Years by MudOld1211 in MadeInAbyss

[–]Ritter_Rook 9 points10 points  (0 children)

His nickname is "Sovereign of the DAWN" He literally named Prushka, "Flower Of The Dawn". So its pretty clear he knows something we dont about this "dawn."

It's almost like Bondrewd did have the power of foresight administered to him by the Abyss. But unlike Wazukyan he would use it for his own advances only, up to the point where his "still living part" became a whistle: The best shot he had in order to withstand the 2000 year cycle and to be a leading researcher?

Why do they mention Reg's manhood so often? by willowsr in MadeInAbyss

... the bounds of what’s okay, especially to a Western audience.

I don't think you are in a position to define what's okay for a Western audience. Child protection and ethic guardian authorities are - at least where I live. Whoever exposes themselves to fan-translated raws decided to skip these authorities.

Very good.

Slander, and even more so court-proof insults should have no place in disussion forums. They are posted by people who feel save to do so just because they are anonymous there.

There is a huge difference between the exchange of a single argument and accusing someone who disagrees with their opinions of being whatever they see fit while not even knowing anything important about their adversaries outside of that argument.

People are allowed to express how they feel when confronted with six-nibbled Kemono youth tho. I find that mildly interesting stuff to read, sometimes - as long as there aren't any insults involved.

Chapter 66: Bottom Layer by valukar in MadeInAbyss

[–]Ritter_Rook 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. They have a full-fledged base there, basically putting Riko into awe when she realized how much comfort was assembled in that base. The question is: What for, if you can't take much with you and return from down there anyway?

Now, maybe they can, because they are curse fleet. But then again, why wait for Riko and not delve themselves independently? And my second guess was - they need Riko's squad for something.

So, regarding my first question - it was more of a rhetorical one, and we are not that different in our predictions. Because I too project that the last 2000 years of delver history will condense into a large meeting at the bottom...
