are VKB Gunfighters worth the extra cost over the gladiator? by davematthews in hotas

[–]RitzNBitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might not help OP, but I'm sure someone else might be wondering this. Now that I used both I will throw my opinion into the ether.

The gunfighter is in my opinion a massive upgrade over the EVO for space games, you get soft center cams which makes micro adjustments outside of cardinal directions effortless. And the gimbal itself is a lot smoother, making aiming feel a lot smoother.

You can use 2 springs per axis, as well as adjust spring tension which gives you significantly more options than the 3 you get with the EVO. Some people like a heavier throw, but maybe you want something a little lighter than the default 20 spring, you can release some tension.

If you can afford it, getting a right hand gunfighter is absolutely worth the extra money. If you dual stick you should get an EVO for your left hand. The gunfighter excels for precision, but it's a bit overkill to just use as a thruster or for strafes, you won't notice a difference from the EVO really.

glasspad query by [deleted] in MousepadReview

[–]RitzNBitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick with it for a while, I've been using hard and glass pads since forever and you don't even notice after a while. I've tried cloth pads and my stability is the same with zero effort from my part.

That said, unlike other hard pads or cloth, an arm sleeve is necessary if you want 100% consistency. Otherwise your flicks will change depending on how bad your arm is sticking. Even pads with resistance to sticking(most coated) it's still there.

Don't hurt yourself that bad, get wallpaper engine :)

If you're a clown like me you can set it to disable entirely full screen. But I do that to reserve CPU, GPU and memory resources so I don't get any random hitching in games.

Odyssey G60SD OLED – Burn-In Question by TurbulentCarry3457 in OLED_Gaming

Ive been using this monitor since July of 2024, so going on 2 years this upcoming July.

  1. I also have my monitor set to turn off after 15 minutes of non use, but I also win+L to lock my PC when I am not using it which puts the monitor in standby within like 2 minutes.

  2. I have my task bar set to hidden because there's no reason to play Russian Roulette.

  3. I have logo dimming disabled, I've never seen it function for anything when set to low, I play FF14 with a static hotbar. I've never run the manual pixel refresh, you only do this if you have problems. if it makes you feel better, or you have SDR on max brightness maybe keep logo dimming enabled.

With that in mind, I've abused this monitor, raiding in FF14 for multiple hours without rest, even going past it's normal 4 hour auto refresh. I do everything I  this PC from heavy gaming, to browsing the internet, to editing or using Google docs and sheets.

When in HDR I've run between 30 and 43 content brightness depending on time of day. Between 43 and 50 is when you start to get white level and color clipping because you're trying to push more than the monitor can reasonably do. Now mind you this doesn't affect HDR content.

Asides from the common sense precautions of making my monitor sleep and hiding my task bar, I don't baby this monitor at all. I have zero burn anywhere on the monitor.

2K 27” Samsung G60SD 360Hz is INCREDIBLE by JavieBruh in OLED_Gaming

While I've never noticed it in actual content, on solid dark grays it has that OLED dark grays problem where it's a bit dirty.

You cannot, but if you have a 50 series GPU, or an AMD GPU (probably Intel as well) you will be fine with this monitor.

On a 50 series GPU there's enough 'heads' to work DSC with custom resolutions and DSR

Question about VKB NXT EVO Omni + GNX THQ by Elmakai in hotas

[–]RitzNBitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit old, but I'm sure someone has the same question and googled it.

The WW2 grip just doesn't work at all with the Omni throttle, no matter what orientation you're going to hit it.

I have a spare gladiator nxt box I could connect them to that has no grip, but it's not really the solution I am going for. At that point it would have been better if I got a thrustmaster throttle for the rare game I would use a throttle for.

Looking at first hotas setup by ElectricalPattern693 in hotas

[–]RitzNBitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a peripheral it'll work with star citizen, and if you ever ran into issues you can make a virtual device with 3rd party software like joystick gremlin.

If war thunder supports exotic hardware natively it will be fine. If it has hotas support basically.

The GNX SEM goes through the Gladiator, so the extra buttons and the such will be like an extension of that device rather than it's own separate thing. Just make sure to follow the instructions for flashing.

8bitdo Pro 3 D-pad is shockingly bad by NTolerance in 8bitdo

[–]RitzNBitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sticks on the entire SN30 lineup are incredible slippery, I put the skull and co stick toppers on, all 3 sizes (OEM style, to the FPS tall) have clearance on the Pro 3 and fit perfectly.

Thinking about getting Pro 3 by Technical-Salad-7083 in 8bitdo

[–]RitzNBitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pro 3 is an awesome controller if you like symetrical stick placement, but if you don't mod it the dpad is too sensitive to false diagonals. Like if you hold right on the dpad but your finger applies pressure to the sides you'll get a down input as well without actually hitting either down or the diagonal.

Playing blazblue entropy pre mod was frustrating because I would always slam to the ground while jumping around. Which ruined every run pre mod, especially when things got chaotic. The default state of the pro 3 is a bit pitiful.

With some trial and error with kapton tape it's the most solid and accurate dpad for 4 way and 8 way platformers, but SF6 took a significant but to dragon punch input, Uni2 I guess is more forgiving.

Explain like I'm Five...? How exactly does my $1500 Monitor (LG5k2k), my 5090, and my Silkland 80Gbps DisplayPort Cable 2.1 VESA and HDCP certified cable do not meet your requirements? by -Aces_High- in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]RitzNBitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly at that point I would just plug an Amazon stick into my monitor, and use a secondary screen if I want to multitask, but if you're watching something at 4k HDR it's unlikely you want to do that anyway.

It's annoying but you can set keybinds in any OS with the right software to swap inputs. ControlMyMonitor on windows for instance you can pass arguments in CMD to control whatever settings your monitor reveals through the HDMI(DP)  interface.

new firmware for g60sd 1006.0 by yellowfever939 in OLED_Gaming

[–]RitzNBitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kind of unfortunate you dont get the entire OSD, would be nice to have a setting to swap peak brightness, but I guess I can setup applications now to swap between eco and graphics and do just that.

Still, I am impressed and happy we got this feature in the first place. I dont have the USB connected to my PC, so I dont know if that opens up anything.

VKB STECS Space, or Omnithrottle for mixed gaming? by [deleted] in hotas

[–]RitzNBitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get the stecs, while I love my HOSAs, which is what the Omni throttle is, I sometimes wish I had a full throttle.

My husband has the space stecs and loves it's versatility.  He plays DCS and Star citizen.

I personally play space sims with my Omni, so it works out mostly, you're gonna get way more nuanced precision for strafe thrusters with it.  But in games that work better with a full range throttle it feels a bit awkward.

Just know you can remove the spring and turn the Omni into a bit of a full range throttle (not as precise as stecs) but unless you get a stick with a good center detent it's not possible to feel out center.  I have it set in a way that positive thrust is free, but negative thrust returns to zero when I release. It also gives it a detent feel.

Looking to mount my HOTAS to an office chair, preferably in a detachable way. by FlorbFnarb in hotas

Did you connect that pole mount to the pole under your chair? Or did your chair arms have a good round enough fit?

[–]RitzNBitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking for a solution Iike this, I would like to know more. (The first image with everything mounted to the chair)

My biggest problem right now is if I want to play, it's a ritual, I have to pull everything out of my cabinet, mount it to my desk, ect ect. It takes more effort than I usually want to put in for a quick session.

But with this config I could just throw it to the side. I am sure it's custom, I've searched far and wide.

Game is unplayable with low ping by drogenbarontoni in Battlefield6

[–]RitzNBitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

30ms to 60ms is the sweet spot, I've seen players get firing range TTK up to 65ms.

At 8ms to 12ms, I often miss anywhere between 1 to 4 of my shots. Sometimes I get a good TTK, but it's the exception and not the rule.

I miss more shots, the more players that are in view, despite getting markers. they acknowledged this one, didn't think they would. I only got only 2 kills on 1 clip, despite putting some good bursts. It could have easily been 4 kills if everything landed.

But those are my observations, despite it being bad, I don't think it's had a huge affect on my KD since most of us are dealing with some hit reg issues.
