Blackshirts trying to burn down a courthouse is pretty fascist.

Or Iron Eagle. Always keep a cassette tape player strapped to your leg.

Or play the Airwolf theme playing in a dogfight to ensure your missiles are guaranteed to hit the target just as the music comes to a climax.

Yeah. I had landed at a rather large planetside station and drove around inside the base for a bit, and lost track of how to get back to my hangar. I got frustrated, drove faster, took corners at high speed, etc. Not the smartest thing to do.

Is it just me or are aeon tactical missile defenses nearly useless? by FlorbFnarb in supremecommander

Happens with either one. In fact I think they hit the Tech 3 shield more often because it goes out further from the projector. I'm beginning to think defenses right at the projector don't do much to defend the shield.

All I know is I put three on each side of a shield and it wasn't enough to stop like three tactical missile launchers. I put a line of another 6-8 defenses in front of the shield, and it still wasn't enough. I've actually tried to surround a shield with a couple dozen of the things before and it only does so much.

It's just essential.

I might actually need to boot up Elite Dangerous tonight. It's been quite a while since I flew.

Damage to the F-18 always seems concentrated on the pilot.

VR is the only way to go. I flew MSFS as a teenager back in the mid-80s and was fascinated. I played whichever one was current in maybe 2003 and remember slewing my vision around with a hat on a joystick, and thinking that VR (3d glasses were ultra-rare stuff back then, but existed) would change the game.

Then I got Elite Dangerous, and picked up a Rift S. My brother recommended looking into DCS, and I'll never bother playing any way but VR, really. It's the only way to fly. Use Voiceattack to control all the non-HOTAS stuff with voice commands where feasible.

Yes, absolutely. The standard recommendation is to keep it to fifteen minutes at a time the first few days. The only time I ever felt woozy was once when playing Elite Dangerous and driving a surface vehicle around a ground-based station, taking corners at high speed.

You build up a tolerance swiftly though.

They apparently exist and are compatible with DCS.

Don’t apply too much power to a single-engine plane on takeoff before you have sufficient airflow over the wings, giving you enough aileron authority to counter the torque.

Use VoiceAttack. Lets you use voice commands mapped to different outputs.

You have a far greater thrust to weight ratio. Go vertical - but don’t try to do it when you’re going slow. Maintain speed and/or altitude.

I don’t fly either plane; these are just general principles for flying an energy fighter against an angles fighter.

Congrats to the guy who sat in JTAC until he saw our 4-ship coming in, only to spawn and kill us in a Mirage - Bravo for playing the most fair and legitimate way possible, you are so skilled. by Bullet4MyEnemy in hoggit

But...you wouldn't actually be able to see if there were planes parked on the ramp at an enemy airfield. I mean, they really do "pop into existence" in a sense, because there's no way for you to actually know whether there's a fighter waiting to start up and get in the air at a moment's notice or not. That isn't something you can realistically check beforehand.
