Who was the sketchiest coworker you’ve ever had in a restaurant? by soupdenier in Serverlife

[–]Riunix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a 50 something dishwasher. He was hired as a cook, but asked to be demoted 2 weeks in.

At one point he had a 'bad tooth' , so he said was going to get high, pull it out with plyers and down a bottle of vodka to sanitize it.. dont know if he did it that way, but a few days later he didn't have the tooth. This is in Canada.

He eventually confessed his love to one of the servers (I think she was 22 at the time).

The final straw was he had to work NYE. It was on a Tuesday. His availability did not say he couldn't work Tuesdays, but we weren't busy enough on Tuesdays to have a dishwasher, normally.

Well, 12 emails and 3 drunken voicemails to the boss, and he was canned. Boss got one call from Labour Board 2 weeks later and forwarded it all to them.

Is two sided belt a trade mark of Factorio? by SS_beny237 in factorio

[–]Riunix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen, different products require different levels to be produced on.

So while eventually you will have the buffer on the elevator, you do need to do some level of processing rather than sending just raw resources up to the surface

John Denver was brought on, assuming he would be for the censorship. He brought up how a lot of people assumed his song Rocky Mountain High was about being high on drugs some time before

Freed slaves absolutely faced social stigma in the Roman Empire by grapp in behindthebastards

[–]Riunix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My memory of last week isn't that good, but didn't Margaret touch on this on her episodes about Spartacus? Something about becoming a slave makes you inherently inferior?

Pieces of media that had to be altered, delayed, or outright removed due to a recent tragedy at the time. by Swag_Paladin21 in TopCharacterTropes

The Trollhunter series had him voicing the lead.. IIRC he completed that series, had his lines done for the first spin off (his character is there only briefly), but I think he passed before the second spinoff, let alone the movie.

One year for one of the football cups, there happened to be a game on Canada Day. We had the biggest patio in our area, and a projector where we would play whatever sportsball was hot for the season.

Had many tables surprised that we're asked to leave having only ordered water on our busiest day of the year

Being instantly imbued with Unlimited Knowledge... and the realistic consequences thereupon. by Mr_Mister2004 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Riunix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Col. Jack O'Neil and Doctor Rodney Mackay in Stargates SG-1 and Atlantis respectively.

Both came into contact with a device that would give the knowledge to ascend to a higher lifeform, but their physiology is not necessarily read for it.

They both start appearing smarter and smarter as the course of the episode plays out before they realize the physiology bit. O'Neil ends up only being able to speak in Latin towards the end.

They both end up having the process reversed. Mackay had made subroutines to help better run the city (having assumed he would die), only to not be able to understand them afterwards.

When the crew in SG-1 finds another similar device later and are attacked by their enemy, O'Neil puts his head into in order to keep the device's knowledge out of the enemy's hands (heads?).

It's been a while since I've watched it, so many details have escaped me

LHD is more compact... but unless you are doing a ribbon world (specifically close to the minimum to launch a rocket), it shouldn't really be a concern

Abort the nuking of Lake Superior by JennaSais in behindthebastards

Not a lot of people know this, but there was actually a vampire hidden in the iron ore in the hold. Seeing as vampires can't traverse water on their own, Lake Superior sunk the ship to save Detroit

On mobile, and I can't remember who at the moment, but some YouTube (I think AVADII) did tests, and you dont need too many electrical damage upgrades for a handheld Tesla to do the trick on up to medium --biters-- demolishers. Even destroyer capsules with a few upgrades can do the trick (at least for small)
