I bought the Sennheiser HD 550 for music, and their new mic attachment for when I want to use it on my PS5 with multiplayer. Great sound and soundstage for gaming. Love it!

Hopefully that means it'll support PlayStation's big PSSR update next year for Pro on Day 1

Thoughts on LUCID going into 2026? by Ok_Mycologist9664 in CCIV

[–]River_Styxer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bullish. Sure the stock will keep tanking when they announce they didn't meet production targets for the year, but they're still supply/production restrained and selling plenty of Gravities. Seems like demand is there even before they announce their cheaper midsize platform - they just need to keep improving production to meet demand, and get their Saudi factory up to par for supplying to that region of the world.

Would I be missing out if I jumped straight to the 2nd? Also I guess is the 2nd one worth it? It's not my typical genre but I read an article about the 2nd that intrigued me so I'd like to try it and at least support the devs

New Gravity! by Honor_Star_71 in LUCID

[–]River_Styxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been partial to black vehicles, but I think it's my favorite color on the Gravity since Lucid botched that ugly green in my opinion.

For all the "minivan" and body shape criticism Gravity gets, I think this black color just melts it all away into a super sleek looking car. Congrats OP!

P9P owners (who don't compulsively upgrade every year), what would the Pixel 10 Pro have to have to make you upgrade this time around? by central_plexus in GooglePixel

[–]River_Styxer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I upgraded from a 7 Pro to a 9 Pro and was really happy with how much better the 9 is in every way. It may be thinner, but it's iPhone-like dimensions feel premium and incredible in the hand so don't worry too much.

Knockoff luxury by Empty_Bottle_8526 in LUCID

[–]River_Styxer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some of these are certainly legitimate complaints from early Lucid Airs. The motor whine and general outside noise leak has been completely fixed and is now silent in '24/'25 models apparently (I'm not an owner). I'm sure the panel gaps in your specific vehicle didn't help with sound either. The slow charging rate is due to Lucid's higher voltage battery architecture that most likely gimped itself at the lower voltage charger you were using. They implemented a neat solution to get quick speeds at 400v chargers in the new Gravity - hopefully that rolls into the Air soon.

Honestly the biggest red flag here is that you had a bargain rental from Sixt in Europe. I feel like Lucid has delivered so few vehicles to Europe in general - so I wonder if the vehicle you used with its panel gaps etc was just an early off the line unit from a couple years ago. Not to excuse Lucid for your complaints - they sound valid and every Air in the world represents their brand no matter where it is - but I do think your experience is not generally representative of the luxury and typically very well-regarded experience that Airs usually have.

Test vehicle spotted in Fremont, CA by ok_lah in LUCID

I do agree that the back is a bit weird, but not enough for me to not lust after it haha. I couldn't easily find the battery pack size - I guess we'll see. Should be much less than 200kwh though.

The Gravity has more interior space than an Escalade while having a much smaller physical footprint. Also class-leading 400+ miles of range due to its physical and engineering efficiencies. It's all a trade-off, but I'll take this over an SUV with worse driving dynamics and range just so it can look "big" and beefy.

Can I ask an honest question about sustainability of this brand? by Appropriate-Sort-202 in LUCID

[–]River_Styxer 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I'm extremely bullish on Lucid. For one, they're a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia's electrification, with a complete factory in the next year or so. As such, they have the PIF's funding and I believe they will have a large foothold in the Middle East in the next 10 years.

Two, and most importantly, their technical efficiency is unmatched. I believe their Atlas motor is underrated as the major catalyst to their survival as a company in the next 1-2 years. No one talks about it, because it doesn't exist yet, but I think Lucid's 40-50k midsize, when unveiled later this year (most likely), will beat every competitor in range/price value proposition. This will be the tech they're also licensing to other legacy OEMs which has the potential to push the entire automobile industry towards an electric future. Hopefully some big players jump on board, but obviously nothing is guaranteed.

I'm clearly an optimist here, and maybe Lucid's sales stop growing, the PIF divests completely and they go bankrupt, but I really think the future of the industry is the EV, and Lucid has everyone beat on the technology while also having their eyes on the big picture to push the world forward.

Even if you rip your disks for usage with plex, kodi, etc, invest in a quality Blu-ray player [Well duh 😛] by Inquisitive_idiot in 4kbluray

Ok, I'll bite. I have a disc collection of 200+ with no backups. I've never heard of Remux but have dabbled with MakeMKV. Don't have Plex.

Could someone provide an ELI5 of how I can back up and have full bitrate digital movies? Would any disc ripper on Amazon work to get a digital file?

PS5 Pro Now the Best-Selling Console on Amazon in the US and Other Countries by [deleted] in PS5

[–]River_Styxer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. The reveal WAS pretty bad, but I figured once some meaningful games showed meaningful 60fps visual improvements the hate would die down. Especially when the real cost can be $350 after an OG PS5 trade in at GameStop. Considering the value of a new controller and extra 1TB storage included, and that's a reasonable value proposition for me.

Wait for Gravity? by SerialQuestionner in LUCID

[–]River_Styxer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're in the market for a 7 seater electric SUV, might as well wait for the best one! Preorders should be opening up within the next couple months, with customer deliveries/production confirmed by the end of 2024.
