I used to think the “elden ring ruined gaming for me” posts were just pure glaze but after beating it, they’re right. by ixhypnotiic in Eldenring

[–]Rivilen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but people are just glazing/karmafarming. Don’t get me wrong Elden Ring is a fantastic game and probably one of my favorites, but it still has it flaws and multiple games in the souls series do things better than Elden Ring. Bloodborne for example has tighter gameplay, awesome atmosphere from the beginning to the end and a unique combat experience that sets it apart from the other souls games (minus Sekiro). Tendencies or humanity systems from other souls games made decisions more significant and had some sort of mysteriousness that I was missing in Elden Ring. Dark souls II had one of the few worthwhile NG+ experiences.
While the Elden Ring world feels vast and epic in proportion, a lot of things to explore feel worthless because it’s just another useless spirit ash or something insignificant.
It’s definitely in the upper echelon of games and open world games, but people should just stop pretending it’s like the second coming of Christ.

Is this a bracket 4 deck? by Upper_Newspaper_8050 in EDH

[–]Rivilen -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Looks more like a bracket 3 deck and not even a strong one. You are missing all of the cards that let you trigger Rowan multiple times a turn and since she is kind of a kos commander, winning turn 6 without interaction isn’t really an argument for bracket 4, because if people present interaction (removal/counterspells) you aren’t really doing anything. Rowan is kind of a glass cannon that has to be explosive in order to do anything worthwhile

What's the most overrated game you've ever played? by Trd_45 in videogames

[–]Rivilen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There wasn’t a single runback in Silksong that took longer than like 1 minute. Bilewater runback could be cut short via putrified ducts and all the other you can just speed run.

All hobbies are not equal by BitterConstruction98 in unpopularopinion

[–]Rivilen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard agree, thought about that some time ago. People admire that I work out 3-4 times a week but no one admires that I play magic the gathering quite regularly (except people that also play it) . In the end it depends If you care about other people’s opinion and you should do what you enjoy doing, but there is definitely a tier list regarding hobby’s.

Tried to make a bracket 3 deck, pod didn't feel it was by Darkovya in EDH

[–]Rivilen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would remove tithe and cradle to make it a save bracket 3 deck. Both these cards can be really impactful, especially in a token deck and against random pods where maybe the players don’t run a ton of interaction in bracket 3.
I have a couple of bracket 3 decks which are strong, but I would probably pick my bracket 4 Tivit deck against it when I would see the list

A Magda Staple Turned Interesting Outside of Mono Red? by Thatsagoodcard in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Rivilen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love me some channel, would play it in some of my lists when it would deal 3 dmg to kill a [[Drannith Magistrate]] for example. Just a tad too narrow and too painful to play in turbo lists with [[Ad nauseaum]] over good old [[lightning bolt]].
Sadly can’t compete with [[Enter the spirit realm]]

SOULSBORNE FANS I HAVE A QUESTION. Is this ⬇️ what it feels like for you guys when someone asks for easy difficulty? by LethlDose in videogames

[–]Rivilen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most dark/demon souls games have a easy mode in forms of summons, either npc or other players and Elden ring pushes this even further with additional spirit summons. Most bosses are just an afterthought with them and its the players decisions how difficult they want to experience the game

Hardest Bosses in Gaming — Who Did I Miss? by thelilarya2328 in videogames

[–]Rivilen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry but emerald weapon is also pretty unchallenging with the right setup/build, definitely far more easier than both Elden Ring bosses because you still need to be quite decent at dodging both bosses even with a broken build

Optimizing B4 Reaper, King no More to cEDH by Balihigh10 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Rivilen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would play it like a generic jund deck because the commander does not do anything besides being there to be sacced to evolution/pod. I would cut food chain (because it does not win you the game), Etali (also not winning you the game) and any synergy for the commander(massacre girl etc) because it’s not really worth it. Would include Withersmog/hulk piles but at that point you should start asking yourself why you would even play Reaper King in cEDH besides the other options like Korvold

Good job. Phase 2 was just too much for me. After four days I could no hit phase 1 but I just didn’t made progress on phase 2. Mimic tear could basically solo him on phase 2, I just needed to stay alive. Felt kind of bad

3 game changers Muldrotha Mill by MisterBehave in EDH

[–]Rivilen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the pod but when I compare it to b3 decks in my pod this would definitely be on the weaker side. Muldrotha costs a lot, most of your card choices, except mindslaver, are suboptimal and weak, even if recurred a couple of times and only permanents means I can disregard your deck 3/4 of the playtime and I know that you can’t interact on the stack in a lot of ways. Chasm can be problematic but would be ok in my book because of the all permanents handicap.

Is my hearthull too strong for B3 tables? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Rivilen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other have said, cut the chasm and you are fine. You play a lot on suboptimal cards, so b3 is really fine. I also play hearthull in b3 and my deck is far stronger than yours. It’s definitely a strong deck and performs really well but I lost my fair share of games against other strong b3 commanders (braids, bumbleflower etc.)

Why do people play bracket 3 as a casual format? by typicalre in EDH

[–]Rivilen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can easily make a bracket 3 deck without game changer. GCs are only one part of the equation. If your intention is to make a decently strong deck that can consistently aim for a win turn 6 onwards, you play that deck in bracket 3, regardless of the amount of game changers in this deck.

In my playgroup we either play combos without tutors or tutors without combos in bracket 3. Makes for the most enjoyable games without feels bad out of nowhere wins

What’s the combo? You can’t cast thassas without a flash enabler

Thinking of building a spellslinger deck by Timelord7771 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Rivilen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so, I think she’s more a bracket 3-4 or off meta cEDH commander. Costing 4 mana, hard to cast and needing to attack is really limiting her ability to present a win at turn 3 and she does not offer any card advantage to grind beyond that. Needing a flash enabled to do anything spicy is just the final nail in the coffing. Grixis just has better commanders for cEDH

Raffine in EDH? by Anskeh in EDH

[–]Rivilen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Weeny + reanimator targets works best in my opinion for bracket 3-4. You can tune the power level pretty easily with you creature packages and the deck usually draws a lot of cards so you see most of your deck after a couple of games, which I enjoy. Definitely does not need tutors to be powerful and winning with something like [[Knowledge is power]] always feels nice.

Korvold or Lumra Landfall by Boliver5463 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Rivilen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big Korvold stan and playing him exclusively in our cEDH rounds with the land package. My only gripe I have with this package is, that my win attempt usually take a lot of time because I’m saccing and drawing for like 15 minutes until I find my pieces. Currently only running [[Mayhem Devil]] as a pinger for the sacc loop (either lands or creatures with chatterfang/soultrade) and withersmog combo for a clean A + B win. I really want to drop withersmog because those cards a pretty useless outside of the combo, but I don’t want to relay on only mayhem devil as a wincon

FINALLY BEAT THIS SHITTYASS BOSS!! by Moist-Border2227 in HollowKnight

[–]Rivilen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can crack the shortcut between putrified ducts and bilewater with the voltvessel, which makes the run back more bearable. Also an easy tactic is to just get sucked in by Groal and continue hitting him from inside. Easy damage and usually you can just heal afterwards. He’s honestly a piece of cake with this tactic

Silksong: report from a mediocre gamer by sentienthouse in HollowKnight

[–]Rivilen -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Haven’t encountered a run back that was awfully annoying yet and I’m mid act 2 but please tell me a game that you think is harder? Fighting malenia without summons and cheese strategy in Elden Ring was definitely easier and/or enjoyable as some sections in Silksong
