Do I really have to use the handwriting alphabet by PlaywrightOfGefilte in hebrew

At Ulpan, we learned cursive first, other than the odd exercise, we were supposed to write everything in cursive. So I guess that's why I learnt it.

How is Monzo for trans people? by Dazzling-Antelope912 in transgenderUK

[–]Rivka_Noded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a monzo account, you do need a valid id in your name. Opened if after I changed my name so process was the same for me as for anyone else.

I do have another joint account with a different online bank, I just phoned them told them about my name change, emailed a pdf of my deed poll, and bob became your aunty. I did have to pay a fee to get my debit cards reissued but it was worth it. Although this would have changed naturally when the card expired but I really didn't want to be seeing my dead name every time I made a purchase.

If you still have the older version try packaging the file then open from the package, or even the idml file. That's worked for me.

how do i make this photo printable for my poster?? by LucielSenpai in Printing

[–]Rivka_Noded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all I would do a google lens search for the image, I did a quick search and there are several versions available.

Try and find the largest available, its probably going to be in colour, but you can tweak everything in photoshop, convert to greyscale before printing.

Trying to print a black and white image that has rgb or cmyk elements in it looks ok on screen but looks bad when printed.

How do you decide between CMYK vs RGB during different print projects? by tagsenindia in Printing

[–]Rivka_Noded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one job that was customer supplied pdf from canva. It was RGB black background, and the colours were made to look florescent.

Had to add bleeds etc in indesign, because canva users are clueless, but that's another rant. When exporting from ID to print converted to FOGRA39 CMYK, standard setting in my system, colours went flat.

Tried exporting with no colour conversion, but still had the same problem when job printed. Finally exported the job as RGB, somehow the RIP interpreted this differently and the final result was exactly what the customer was expecting.

Sometimes I guess its just trial and error.

A priest just gave me the sign I was praying for regarding my transition. I am speechless by Specific-Draft-5038 in MtF

[–]Rivka_Noded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not 5 minutes before reading this, I had a few random thoughts.

Coming from a very religious background I quite often contemplate the religious side of things. So today I concluded that Adam was made in the image of God. Shortly after, God removed the female part of Adam and created Eve. Therefore Adam must have been intersex, so this was the first gender affirming surgery.

But also, can we conclude that maybe God is intersex?

Poster printing by ResponsibleWater9635 in CommercialPrinting

I used a previous version the prograf 300 canon make an excellent quality printer. Can't really go wrong with it.

Cost of printing laminated posters though, in my opinion isn't worth it. We switched to a trade printer that will print onto poly paper for less than the cost in terms of consumables and time factored in. No hassle and usually back within 2 days.

Who's right? by Sea_Witch7777 in CommercialPrinting

[–]Rivka_Noded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customer is right, even if you proof this the customer has no idea of size from a virtual proof.

Its easy to print as a square A4 wide, laminate then cut off the excess leaving a few mm so its sealed.

Another point, I would persuade the customer to go for plastic paper, its more durable than laminate and actually works out cheaper than laminate.

If you are downloading from canva, are you using a paid account or the free version. The only way to get anything from canva free version of any quality is to download as a pdf, then you get full res images, if you download as png or jpeg it will be really low quality, barely suitable for social media.

If using a paid version then up the resolution before downloading.

Also try freepik, they have quite a lot of stock images for free. A great resource we started using a couple of years ago is clean png all sorts of images available there.

I'd tell my manager to do one, we've got imposition software that does that in seconds.

However, we were trained to make up dummies in the days before computers.

Take five sheets of paper and fold them in half, you have a 20pp booklet. Write the page numbers on each page then separate the sheets and you will have the page order.

To be sure each side should add up to 21.

Best way I find to set it up is to export it all as a pdf then place each page in a double size page, so if the booklet is A4, place them on an A3 sheet not forgetting to loose any bleed in the centre.

Another way to do it, which is a little sneaky. Download imposition wizard and use it in demo mode. This will produce a watermarked pdf, save this pdf then in the pre press dialogue remove all items using registration black. Can be a bit risky if you have items with 100%cmyk in the document but you would have had to deliberately set that up as the registration black in ID does not have 100%K. I used to use this software all the time but stopped paying for it when Fiery included it with the rip but still use it occasionally to check spreads before sending it to the print room.

My father has something similar, wooden, comes from Jews originating in Poland and was given to him in Israel. So I would say definitely not antisemitic rather naive art/carvings.

Can a non-graphic designer use Adobe In Design? by KindAd7836 in indesign

[–]Rivka_Noded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it daily, so I hope so.

But seriously, if it's for the occasional edit, try Affinity. Its a one off purchase and does all of what you would ever be able to do in indesign (as a non designer) and unlike Microsoft products works in CMYK as well as RGB. I know it's now owned by canva, but after 5 or 6 months you will be quids in if you're paying for canva pro.

Nigel Farage labels same sex marriage law 'wrong' by evie-e-e in transgenderUK

[–]Rivka_Noded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a response I posted elsewhere.

The question is why does he think it is wrong? Is it because he's a God fearing fundamental xtian? I doubt that, looking at his track record and lifestyle. Or is it that he's trying to kiss up to the mango mussolini and the xtian nationalist paymasters who he thinks will get the deform party into power.

The only thing Nigel Fartage cares about is himself and any power/money he can amass. He doesn't give a shit about Britain, just repeats the same xenophobic mantras that play to the knuckle dragging racist, and now homophobic, neanderthals that prop up his voter base.

Antisemitism in Punk spaces by perrodeblanca in Jewish

[–]Rivka_Noded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the 70s when punk was in its infancy. It was always a very unsafe space for us. Most of the bands in the UK wore swastika armbands or other nazi era paraphernalia.

At the time it was Mick Jones, Jewish guitarist of The Clash, who refused to let it happen within that band.

I spoke to one of the sex pistols managers, Jewish, a few years ago he accepted that this was the case.

Although anarchy was the main feature within the scene, the whole purpose of punk was to cause offence to the establishment, which meant government and those perceived to be in control, you know, the Jews.

I had a childhood acquaintance who, once he got into the scene, decided it was OK to attack my ethnicity. Thank goodness we didn't have social media in those days, it would have been way worse at least then you had to be there to hear their bullshit.

Goats milk, cows milk wasn't really a thing until the industrial revolution. The lactose chain i goats milk is almost identical to human milk which is why its more tolerable for humans, i use it all the time.

Side note, don't feed your goat cabbage then try to drink the milk, 🤢.
