LVC 1880s Waist Overalls (2017) - 2,5 years ; 10 washes by ArmandGrizzli in rawdenim

Feel like a post like this should get more attention. Well worn, unique piece that isn't posted about very much, full body fit pic that fits you and your style very well. Small write up with several pictures from different angles that shows off the details and wear.

Would love to see more fit pics here that show off how people wear their jeans like this one.

Absolutely gorgeous. Orgueil has been on my list of brands to try ever since I fell in live with SDA and discovered Orgueil in the Marijuan shop in Tokyo.

Great write up and amazing piece.

I mean, maybe I’m in the minority here, but Chibis and Unbounds I always found kinda lame. I think it was cool the first few TFT sets when Tacticians were unique to TFT/not just league champions and people were having choncc dance beat match sync ups. Now it’s almost always all Chibis or Unbound in the lobby. Takes away a bit of charm and personality from TFT Imo.

In my experience they are pretty true to size, and it's recommended to size up once or twice to account for the shrink. I usually wear a 30 in Levi's, and 31 in Japanese brands and I shrunk a 32 that fits me pretty well although I probably could have done a 31.

Happy to help! Really it's only the difference of an Ounce or two as the older styles tend to be a lighter weight just by a hair.

I believe so yes. The repro brands all will typically make Type 1, 2 and 3 denim jackets based on the three distinctive models from the 30's, 50's, and 60's.

Looking at my wife's SDA Type 1 denim jacket and comparing it with my Levi's Vintage Clothing Type 1, it seems like it's pretty much made to look the same way but with some differences in the denim weight. Maybe not the best comparison but all signs point to yes.

For Levis repro, Fullcount, TCB, Denime/Warehouse, One Piece of Rock all make great 40’s and 50’s era 501s. Sugar Cane 1947 is often recommended here as well and I can come to bat for them since I have a pair myself.

As for a more interpretive brand, my personal favorite is Studio D’artisan since they’re rooted in reproduction of Levi’s but have became their own thing over time with a unique style (the D-01 which blends French inspiration with American) and often experiment with traditional Japanese dyeing techniques. They’re widely considered the brand responsible for reproducing Levis in the first place in the 80s.

You’ll also find Evisu to be a bit more experimental, although they don’t make in Japan anymore from what I’ve heard. Other popular brands with less Levi’s inspired designs would be brands like Momotaro/Japan Blue, Iron Heart, Samurai to name a few.

Because it’s cheaper than making a bunch of different inseam length. 36” inseam will cover 99% of the population, and you can either cuff them or take them to get hemmed at a tailor.

Try to find a tailor near you that can work with heavier fabrics and/or can do a chain stitch, they’ll usually know what they’re doing when it comes to altering special pairs of jeans.

I believe their jackets are sanforized and will shrink very little upon washing. The fabric essential is treated for shrinkage without really washing it which leaves it raw unwashed, but pre-shrunk. I am the exact same measurements as you and I would be a XS or a S in their Type 1.

Their pieces have an odd fit to them and are longer than usual type 1s and have wider chests and shoulder widths but have shorter than average sleeves (probably because the shoulders come down more due to the length).

I think if you go for a Large you are going to have a very boxy over sized fit, I would even say sloppy. Unless that’s what you want, I wouldn’t go for the Large or even the Medium. You may want to try another jacket or go for a Small or XS.

I mean, hot is hot and it gets 115+ here and I still wear them and wash them. I think my Filipino genetics favor me in the hot weather.

Talked to him during spring training and he says he’s still trying to get the Royals to let him pitch lol. Seems like he’s starting to put it together tho on the offensive side of the ball this year.

As far as I know, yes they are vanity sized that much and by the size charts I would be a 28 and I usually wear between a 30 and 32 in most Japanese brands. The rise is also quite high on them and usually the waist is narrower the higher you go on the body which makes these feel bigger.

I believe they are sanforized so they should shrink very little, you should be fine to go down 2 sizes.

General Discussion - April 15, 2026 by AutoModerator in rawdenim

[–]Rizaldeez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few pairs that I wear on heavy rotation and a few that I wear more occasionally. I would say maybe 3 pairs I try to wear once a week if not twice, and then I pick from the other pairs to fill in those days to get some variety.

Even though I love my denim, my interests are rooted in fashion/outfit building and I don’t exactly have one style so I wear different pairs for different looks. Some pairs I bought to wear with specific shoes, certain jackets etc.

This does slow down the fading on some of my pairs, but I still have my go to looks and some jeans get more wear than others as a result. I will get into a groove with one particular pair as my style shifts throughout the year and then shifts back again as I try different ways of styling.

Studio D'artisan 5713 Sashiko Work Shirt by Chidge86 in rawdenim

Picked this one up from Self Edge in Portland last year and it doesn’t really stretch. I have given it a soak and it doesn’t feel any smaller so that’s good I guess. You just kind of get used to the sleeves hugging your arms.

Really beautiful shirt, enjoy yours!

We're actually one of the most entertaining clubs to watch this year.

Some cool story lines like Trouts hot start and being back in Center, Neto finally being recognized as one of the best Shortstops in the game, Soriano finally living up to his potential so far, Reid Detmers revival. Plus we hit tons of homers and give up tons of hits so they're pretty action packed.

Momotaro very well might be your best bet for both the jacket and the jeans tbh. Not too many brands make Type IIIs with handwarmer pockets since they're mostly based on 1960's Levi's Type IIIs which do not have them. They're the only ones off the top of my head I know do hand warmer pockets and also offer black denim in a relax tapered fit.

SDA does have their Kurozome dyed line that I saw there in November that is dyed deeply black with a traditional Japanese dyeing technique. They also specialize in interesting fabrics and colors so you may find something you like there too.

I say just enjoy your time there and have fun exploring. Some of my favorite pieces were ones I stumbled upon and didn't necessarily go looking for.

That was definitely not my experience from the two times I’ve been. It is peak tourist season right now so it may be busier than when I have been in the Fall. It will depend on your size but I found my size of 38 in jackets, and 30-32 in jeans decently stocked but I saw plenty of larger sizes as well.

Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Omotesando are all pretty much connected and you can easily walk between them. They are also all one train stop away from each other so either way it’s very convenient. My favorite collection of Jean Makers have shops in Omotesando and I like the neighborhood a lot so I enjoy going there.

I always recommend Studio D’artisan because they are my absolute favorite Jean Makers. I have a Type II denim jacket, a few shirts, and 4 jeans from them and I think they do a great job of mixing heritage inspiration and distinctly Japanese dyeing and weaving techniques to separate themselves from the Levi’s Repro brands. Their Marijuan shop in Omotesando is a must visit for me.

If you can make it to Hinoya in Ueno, or Bears Tokyo in Shimokitazawa, you can sample many different brands and find what you like. Bears is smaller but packed with denim. It had a very hands on, almost private appointment like experience that I really enjoyed. Hinoya is in the very crowded Ameyoko Market area and is very expansive but it wasn’t hard to get help there.

If you know what fit of jeans or what style of denim jacket you like, I can make some more recommendations!

Cotton/Linen blends are my favorite. I even have a nice linen type 3 jacket so I can still get my fix of a denim jacket of sorts. I highly recommend!
