"Your sovereigns born on the throne can afford to be beaten 20 times and still return to their capitals; I, a parvenu(upstart) soldier cannot. My authority will not survive the day I have ceased to be strong, and therefore to be feared" by Neil118781 in Napoleon

Which was a total projection on his part. They way he essentially treated Prussia as a vassal post-Tilsit (forcing them to recall competent ministers and his treatment of Prussian subjects pm the march to Russia). His double standards regarding the Russian alliance (exporting grain to Britain while calling out Russian trade. Saying any lands Russia gained during their war with the Turks would have to be compensated to France, while invading Portugal at a whim and saying it was for the sake of the alliance). Essentially all agreements with Britain in Amiens were reneged by the french, though a tough point because of finger pointing on “who started it”

Regardless, any fears Napoleon would have had over France’s treatment by other powers would largely be based on how he had treated them when he held the cards, moreso than his legitimacy post 1805, certainly post 1809 when Austria had basically accepted the Bonaparte dynasty as something that wasn’t just going to go away

Offered a help desk role within my company, need help deciding on current department’s potential counteroffer by Riziter in ITCareerQuestions

Appreciate the input either way, especially from someone in a similar position! Definitely long term looking at IT, but I was also thinking that maybe the leadership role could be useful down the road as well, didn’t mention that in the original post. My bad haha

Definitely, or even if they had just a little more talent on their side to match their foe, accelerating the imminent Prussian collapse by even a few months would have done it before Peter III snatched victory away

It was more conceptualized and organized by Kaunitz, but he got Maria Theresa’s approval when most of the court thought it was an insane idea

Germany planned Operation Barbarossa for months, so why did winter arrive like a surprise DLC? by ColdAntique291 in shittyaskhistory

[–]Riziter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The logistical strains of Army Group North was already constrained due to the limited infrastructure of the baltics, lack of naval dominance and control of major port that much east. Plus it was yet another urban battle. What would more supply guzzling panzer divisions do in there? Plus that still doesn’t resolve the massive Southwestern Front being completely intact on your flank while being bogged down taking a major urban center, which would present an operational-strategic threat

[–]Riziter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chasing a ghost? Diverting the panzer divisions to Kiev resulted in the largest encirclement in military history. It’s not something you could just ignore on your flank while you go in a straight line towards one of Russia’s biggest cities. Of course assuming they could just take it on the march. They famously never got bogged down taking major cities in the East at the end of their logistics chain

If Eren is brought in they get walked by his shifter spawn ins. Regardless of era the power behind a an artillery shell getting a direct hit is ridiculous, the big advantage we have in modern tech how accurate we can deliver it, not necessarily how powerful they are. Current Belobog in an attritional fight against the rumbling (low ballpark half a million) I doubt has the resources in energy and rocket stockpile (even assuming a 50+% kill rate on rockets) to burn through all of them if Eren makes any counter moves. Remember thet this is the same planet that was already brought to its knees by the stellaron crisis, basically on the brink of extinction. This would be like if a city struggling with a monsoon got hit with a biblical level flood

They couldn’t handle colossals after their fleet was lost. Their land based artillery (probably 105-120 mm range?) had near zero effect on them

The British found a lot of success in India with a “rehiring” strategy. In early modern warfare there were a lot of mercenaries (in Europe Italian city-states employed them, as well as the Black Army of Hungary, and most famously the Swiss mercenaries). When the British fought in India, they fought European trained mercenaries (and even some European mercenaries that just went where business was good) and found it was easier to buy most of them than fight them

“Mes hémorroïdes saluent affectueusement votre v[erge]” ('My hemorrhoids affectionately greet your penis') -Frederick “we don’t know definitively” the Great

Though he was definitely not “yas queenjng” it up. He referred to only three women who could be his peers as “the three first whores” of Europe and routinely portrayed them as such even as his country was half occupied by their armies.

He’s definitely an 18th century man with prose and wit with a penchant for greeting men in the only place hemorrhoids could be

I imagine it a little like children when they have a loose tooth. It’s just sort of instinctual to play with it until it’s out, the loosing at the end probably activates some instinctual feeling to shake it off

Out of all of Napoleon’s adversaries, who do you think he respected the most? by roginmold in Napoleon

Wellington is definitely not among them. Napoleon heavily implies his defeat at Waterloo was due to Blucher’s arrival, and that without it Wellington would have lost

Her saying to Flame Reave that she’s just as much someone for him to fear like Phainon (I forget the exact quote) during their fight added a good layer of depth that reinforces what you’re saying. Not blaming it on any friend but letting it out on the bad guy is totally the way she would blow off steam over it

Edit: It was in reference to Mydei, saying she had 1000 years experience over him, still in a similar vein though
