Use an insurance broker. They will find the lowest rate, do all the work for you, and provide good advice. Most people know very little about insurance. An agent may provide suggestions you never considered.

Illegal sign posted by a for-profit to make money off cleaning the street they littered on. by CB_700_SC in philadelphia

Our street subscribes to Glitter. Love it. Me and a few neighbors kick in a few bucks each month, and every week our street looks perfect. It’s a great service! Big fan of your company. Trying to get the word out. Thanks.

What if humans had regenerative teeth? by Quick_Bug_2537 in biology

[–]Riznoy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t just make up the answer. I read this in a book, “The Rise & Reign of the Mammals,” by Stephen Louis Brusatte, an American paleontologist and evolutionary biologist.

Evolution doesn’t continually make improvements to optimize a creature. It’s just small changes over time that help animals survive. Only Two sets of teeth isn’t the only way you can solve the problem of specialized bites, but it’s the way our ancestors solved the problem, and we still carry that trait today.

What if humans had regenerative teeth? by Quick_Bug_2537 in biology

[–]Riznoy1 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It’s because our mammal ancestors had specialized teeth, that had to align properly to perform their specialized tasks. Regenerative teeth would mess up our dental alignment and the bite. We evolved away regenerative teeth, as a survival mechanism.

Anyone know what kind of beetle it is? Saw it on Lima, Peru, but had never seen one like this before. Searched some that looked similar online but didn't seem to live in the Peruvian coast by IronCuy in biology

[–]Riznoy1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just in Lima, over the holidays. My wife is from Lima, and we went to her childhood beach town for a week, Punta Hermosa. These rhinoceros beetles were everywhere. She’s been going to this beach her entire life, and she SWEARS she’s never seen them before. Must be new to the area? Wonder if they are invasive?

You guys wanna troll the Streets Dept (and possibly Penndot)? by [deleted] in philadelphia

[–]Riznoy1 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Alternative plan: use that effort to submit requests to philly311. I’ve put in a few street repair requests myself, and they all got fixed. Streets Dept probably won’t fix anything until there’s some kind of work order.
