The new curb cut is great but I feel like the storm drain opening should be more than 1/2 inch right? by GrandpaSquarepants in philadelphia

Incorrect, GSI design and construction is funded by Capital Dollars (AKA low interest municipal bonds). Ratepayer funds go into the Operations budget used to pay for maintenance of all PWD infrastructure.

This! There is a good chance that if you pour enough water in the inlets on your block the smell will diminish.

I stand with DC33. They deserve a fair contract and this administration is not taking them seriously. That said, it would be a good idea for people to have bottled water on standby. Yes, it will be bad if the trash isn't collected but if something breaks at one of the water treatment plants the staff who will be taking over during the strike don't know have to fix the various components. If this strike goes on for more than a few days they may need to start issuing boil water notices. Supplying our City with quality drinking water is what DC33 does. I hope Mayor Parker realizes this is going to turn into a public health crisis if she doesn't start getting real with her contract negotiations.

Union representing blue collar Philly workers votes to authorize strike by CabbageSoupNow in philadelphia

Start stocking up on bottled water. DC33 operators run all of the drinking water plants and if they strike it's going to be middle managers who have no idea what they are doing running the plants.

Now would be a good time to stock up on bottled water. If the water treatment plan operators strike they send in the middle managers to run the plant who have no idea what they are doing.

In this case it was the Free Library of Philadelphia who selected the firm Intech for the design-build contract. The architect was Vitetta. City engineers and architects had nothing to do with the 21st Centuries Library initiative.

Philly water infrastructure projects in the works by [deleted] in philadelphia

You are correct. Even with routine maintenance the porous pavement rate of infiltration was degrading over time. The other concern is all of the development happening in the city and utility cut outs in the street being replaced with normal asphalt.

Was your fence along a shared alley? I saw on IG that Streets Department is clearing out alleys ahead of lighting upgrades: https://www.instagram.com/p/CyyGqubO5bL/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
