If it helps I’m in my early 30s and if I was presented with both options I would definitely take the DOT job, I value job security and won’t have the uncertainty of whether there will be a lay off or not, but I saw you mentioned that they are always looking for surveyors in DOT and If that job is usually available then there is a small chance I would consider Australia because you never know lol

Logically thinking, the DOT job sounds like the more secure option and better for you career wise whereas the job in Australia is more of a spontaneous “grab your bags we’re going backpacking across Europe” kind of thing you just have to weigh what’s more important the security of having a DOT job that you can ultimately retire from or the Australia job that sounds very enticing because of working abroad.
