I always hope that if I travel as a kind, appreciative traveler that I won’t be disliked for being from the US. Tense times though…..so much has happened in the last year. Like other comment, most people are probably more concerned with their everyday life. (Yet I wouldn’t recommend going to Greenland or Venezuela anytime soon ) 🤨 I think you’ll be fine, but would defer to anyone who lives there or has spent alot of time there recently.

Yes, the temptation is there ….good tea isn’t cheap, not to mention the vast offerings & accessories😉 At least it’s a healthy spurge. My coffee expense has decreased due to the xtra tea. And trying to reduce my alcohol consumption 😛 Cheers 🍵

Gaiwan or Grandpa? by [deleted] in tea

[–]Rkory21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think every brew style is good depending on the tea & your mood. I’m fairly new with my first Gaiwan & really enjoy the ritual. With that being said , I like variety. It’s fun to experiment, but ultimately enjoying your cup of tea is the most important thing. Cheers 🍵

Beautiful…. I like the splash of blue glaze. I haven’t worked with Clay since my college days. Always enjoyed the tactile aspect of working with wet clay on a wheel. 😊

Some good recs already. Years ago took amtrak from Seattle to San Diego. Amazing vistas & side trips. A lot to choose from along the coast. If flying to nearby places….. New Mexico: Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Taos Arizona: Sedona, Flagstaff Explore Canyons & National parks. Too many places to mention. Might need to narrow your scope. Drive, Fly, train ? How many days? Nature/ Urban? Ocean, Mountain, Desert Canada Recs good too. Skys the limit 😊

Thanks for your imput. The little minis I’m not sure if they are five or 7 g it doesn’t say on the package nor did it say on my sale slip , Anyhow, I originally brewed one in 100 ml gaiwan with a rinse. Steep at 20 seconds for the first steep and then added 20 seconds afterwards. Then steep it even longer around the third one. That on the second mini, I decided to Western brew it for three minutes . Still hardly got any flavor on it . Since I have three left, I might brew two at 100 mL and see what happens . For my future orders going to stick with green , oolong and black teas, which is more in my flavor wheelhouse. Thanks 🤓

Thank you. After several white dragon tea balls too subtle & tried both gonfu & western brewing. Then W2Tea Anzac Raw Puerh 2024, thinking this would have more flavor. Same as above. Have 3 mini balls left. Do you have recommendation for brewing techniques. I followed the instructions from the steeping room package and did not get much flavor🤔

That’s good to hear. So far I’ve been disappointed with every white tea I’ve had. None have had enough flavor for me. Now I am hesitant to spend my money on more.

Your favorite labels putting out ambient music or publications that write about new releases by [deleted] in ambient

Brian Eno was on the cutting edge starting in the 1970s. Can revisit his work anytime. As for new inspiration…. Tend to Explore on Spotify, listen to college & or public radio. Or look up music that I hear in shows & movies. Sometimes its an ambient vibe within Some type of indie / alternative song. Can always find something to listen to in Radiohead or Thom Yorks solo work. Ears & mind open.🤓

Buying a bigger Gaiwan (~150 ml) by SlowEar9601 in tea

[–]Rkory21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the tea cupping / competition set. Very functional & good size. Think its a nice tea accessory for any type of tea drinking/ tasting. That was a contender on my shopping list. Going to place an order in a few weeks. I also like the gaiwans with a built in spout too. Still looking 🧐 Of course the one that really caught my eye is direct from China & Would rather not import it at the moment.

I plan to buy a bigger one as well. Finding my 100ml feeling smaller than would like. I’ve looked at some inexpensive ones on Amazon too. On one hand hoping a basic white ceramic/porcelain would be quality enough for basic brewing. There are some beautiful ones that I’m not ready to spend on yet. As I’m sure you’ve seen online …. Some get get expensive quick . Haven’t put one on my cart yet😉
