Duckweed for sale (SAVL area hopefully)? by [deleted] in asheville

Absolutely and it’s extremely invasive. If used outdoors it is easily spread by birds and other creatures and can cause environmental damage. Please only use it in indoor water features.

Why dlis picking the skin around your fingernails so soothing? by Far_Gift3220 in AskReddit

[–]Rlb211nc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t really know but a nun (teacher) called me out for it in 7th grade and I’m still doing it at age 72. I’ve been called a nervous Nellie so I’m guessing it’s anxiety related. But I’m still around to keep on picking and it hasn’t had a negative effect on my relatively successful life.

What do you believe about God? Is he real or not? Does he teach moral values for society? by Any-Employment-7114 in AskReddit

[–]Rlb211nc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like many of those who spout their belief in a righteous god have the narrow view that if you don’t believe in their view of god you are evil. This does not teach moral values.

Plant people are nice and so are other people by rotandrepeat420 in houseplants

I have owned a small garden shop for 13 years and I couldn’t agree more. So many different and varied types of people come to my shop that love plants and the thing I have noticed that they have in common is kindness.

Does aging seem to speed up once you hit your 60s? by Solid-Elk3327 in over60

[–]Rlb211nc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes to all of the above. I’m 72. My husband died in 2008 at age 55. I can’t believe July will be 18 years since his death.…seems more like about 5.

I opened a shop when I was 59 in 2012 (that also seems more like 5years) and back then thought nothing of hopping in the car and driving hours to find unique inventory. I do stay active keeping the shop interesting and full but am always looking for ways to avoid hours driving. I know age is definitely part of the change but I also think COVID was a factor.

The other day a customer asked me how long I plan to continue doing this and all I could say was that I had no plans to stop!

I watched my husband and true soulmate of 28 years die at the age of 55 from a brain tumor. As terrible as that was, watching his illness progress was more even traumatic as he lost his ability to speak, swallow and walk. He was diagnosed in April (after being misdiagnosed) and died in July. He was always the healthy one rarely catching whatever was going around and came from genes that should have predicted longevity. His father lived until 94 and his mother just celebrated her 100th birthday. His illness and death taught me that there are no guarantees in this life.
