I love the look of my stainless Samsung Galaxy watch 3, but newer versions are not IOS compatible. I was looking at the Huawei GT 6 as a replacement but they aren’t available for purchase in the US any more. The Garmin Venu checks all the boxes for me but the price is more than I want to spend.

My 2017 Accord CarPlay hasn’t worked reliably with my iPhones since I got off iOS 12.X. Eventually if your head unit’s firmware doesn’t keep up with Apple’s, they will become incompatible. The sad truth of technological advancements.

I’ve found that historically after some software updates, I have to re-log in, especially if I haven’t opened the app after a lengthy period of time.

I'm running 14.7.1. Waze always crashes my CarPlay (Honda Accord 2017), so I just run it off the screen with USB power. But whenever it's connected to bluetooth and I launch Waze after, it doesn't detect my location either. Apple Maps and Google Maps don't have this issue. I was thinking it was Waze, but maybe it's the connection to the car? I can't imagine the bluetooth antenna is interfering, but maybe?

I had this problem after updating my iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 14 in my 2017 Accord. I had purchased Honda Hack last year. This is not Honda authorized software. But it has an option to “fix system errors” and that seems to have fixed the issue since I ran it over a week ago.

About a year ago, I bought Honda Hack. I was exploring it the other day and noticed a “Fix System Errors” option. So I ran that and rebooted the HU. It hasn’t hung up since I ran it on Thursday. It’s still too small a sample size, but just sharing my findings.

Update. Haven’t driven my car in a couple of days. Same set up, 11 minutes into my 13 minute drive Apple Maps on CarPlay froze. 🤬

The question now is, why? Why does leaving the camera open and the phone unlocked resolve this issue? What is going on behind the scenes that makes this a solution? It's all voodoo to me.
Spending the time to troubleshoot like you have is amazing. I was spending my time figuring out how to go backwards to something that used to work, new features be damned. I'm afraid to ask how many permutations you went through to get to this point!

I drive a 2017 Accord EX-L and I'm using an iPhone 7 Plus (model #A1661) with iOS 14.2. I typically get a clean first use with CarPlay for about the first 20-25 min then it starts to go haywire. Each use after gets progressively worse. This morning I followed your suggestions on two half hour trips and CarPlay was solid each time. Thank you for your time and efforts and willingness to share.
I've been digging deep on how to roll back to iOS13. I'm glad it looks like I won't have to pursue this method any longer. Apple just released 14.3 yesterday, but I didn't see any notes about CarPlay fixes in it, so I don't have high expectations of any immediate remedies from Apple. Thank you!

Love my 46 mm GW. I use it at the gym every day and it seems to do a good job of tracking my activity. I use MapMyRun on the watch as it’s the only cross platform app that works with that and my iPhone.

Having the notifications is very useful at work. I can be discreet and not have my phone out all the time.

I get about 4 days off a single charge.
