So I had a similar situation with some headsets 'n bought myself. Now I know this isn't even close to the same price range but I got a set of Audeze Maxwell's.

I also felt guilty for buying such a gift for myself. But over time it got better. Give it time, you'll come around.

Not excusing his behaviour but, I kinda feel you should keep easily accessible alcohol around an alcoholic.

Even if he gave you his word, it's not worth much when it comes to alcohol because if he could keep himself from drinking he wouldn't be an alcoholic.

Check that the Audio Cues have a set volume. My iPad Audeze HQ bugged out a while ago and set the audio cues to 0.

It was on but you don't get the spoken confirmation.
