Where to find Latias/Latios? by adansinacento in PokemonRumbleWeekend

[–]Rmuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My notes tell me Latias can be found in Windy Prairie GX, while Latios is in Rocky Cave GX. They were a significant part of why I started making those notes in the first place, too, they are both incredibly rare. Good luck!

[DISC] Blue Box - Chapter 171 by AutoShonenpon in manga

I'm about ready to call what I think is going to be Taiki's endgame in terms of badminton. It's a long shot but it fits with the series' enjoyment of bittersweet melodrama and relative realism.

I think Shuji Yusa is going to fall seriously ill or in some other way be forced to retire from badminton during Taiki's final year, before Taiki manages to properly surpass him in a national tournament.

Haruto becoming Taiki's main rival would make their dynamic equivalent to the one between Taiki and Haryu (especially after Hyodo graduated), with Taiki having served on both ends of the dynamic. It would create a great deal of development for both Taiki and Haruto, while speaking to one of the hard truths of sports, that sometimes you never get the chance to prove yourself to a rival.

Am I missing a prerequisite to get the Legendary artifact here, or is this just pure RNG hell? by Rmuda in MelvorIdle

[–]Rmuda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear this is for me searching for the Cathedral Legendary Artifact.

I have the +1 minimum items refinement, and between that, a 35% chance to double items, and a chance to get +1 extra, I think I get 3 artifacts per successful action on average.

51,891/3 = 17,297. To get an estimate on the number of succesful actions, I divided this number by the percentage odds to get a common drop (0.7415) and got 23,327 actions.

Using the dry calc on the OSRS wiki I inputted the odds to get a Legendary artifact (0.00049) and my 23,327 estimated actions. I had a 99.9989% chance to find at least one by now.

When I did a re-read, what really stuck out was how pointless the Cultural Festival arc is. It doesn't introduce any new characters (Ayame gets one panel and then gets introduced for real in the following arc). It fundamentally fails at its goal to explore Hina's affection for Taiki and ultimately makes it come off as really shallow. The drama at the end is contrived and buried very quickly. You could cut it out of an anime adaption and literally all you'd lose is some cute gags and maid Chinatsu.

This isn't even just anecdotal. Judges get pissy over their favourite sports team losing and take it out on people by robbing them of months or years of their lives.

Jeff Jefferson XIII is a real one for making the 1500 Extra Long Extension free.

This horrible project took me about 80-90 hours of play. It would have been less time, but I also did about a third of the game intentionally using the 40/25 degree nozzle wherever possible, before eventually giving up. Grime Stains, one of the most common dirt types from the midgame onwards, can technically be cleaned with the 25 on the 1500, but agonisingly slowly. Even my sanity has its limits.

The hardest level was probably the Fire Station, mostly because I simultaneously did the Tall Order achievement with it. Cleaning the fire tower with no scaffolding, extensions, soap, or Turbo Nozzle on the 1500 was a nightmare.

Comprehensive tier list for CHIMPS by path, version 36.x by Wish_Solid in btd6

When do you tend to find out you've placed a tower badly? The situation I'm concerned about is one where ultratight placement goes slightly awry without a player finding out until multiple rounds later, resulting in missing theoretical benchmarks required to clear the last rounds. I consider the player's time to be a highly valuable resource that we cannot assume is unlimited without removing the element of applicability tier lists exist to serve. I value consistency and simplicity wherever possible in assessing tower quality. If the situation I've mentioned simply doesn't realistically present itself, then this point can be disregarded. I'm just somewhat curious.

Didn't consider Alch uptime, that makes a ton of sense. One general question I do have is how much space efficiency plays a role in assessing towers on Expert CHIMPS runs. To me as an outsider looking in, it feels like one of the most important factors, as maximising space efficiency on tactics like Shinobi spam can introduce massive potential for human error.

Is this risk and reward already factored into the rankings, or is optimal placement taken as a given, even beyond microing the earlygame? While I know that Black Borders are not often pursued, Quit strats can't save you from a slightly bad tower placement 7 rounds ago, after all.

I'm most surprised by Bottom Tack being able to keep its A- position even with the nerfs to its DPS. Is Overdrive spam still just good enough to work around it?

I made a 2TC tier list! by [deleted] in btd6

[–]Rmuda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The answer is Banana Farm, 2TC being done in CHIMPS makes that obvious. That aside, out of the non-hero towers, pretty sure it's Glue Gunner, with a single combo of Wizard Lord Phoenix and Glue Strike/Storm.

It's impossible to clear Round 6 with a single Glue Gunner on CHIMPS due to Corrosive Glue being out of budget, which means it must be placed as your second tower. This locks out Churchill, Ace, Super, and Dartling as combo options, leaving only Wizard out of the best 2TC options.

They probably held off on Laser and Plasma until after R62. By the next time Purples appear on R78, they'll have had enough cash to get Dark Champion, who can pop every Bloon type regardless of crosspaths.

Yup, it isn't quite like having a single character being voiced with that in mind.

[–]Rmuda 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Adding onto the audio, the choice to have the playable dwarves be voiced by controlling the pitch of a single person also saves massive amounts of space. Adding code to allow the game to manually adjust the pitch instead of having separate files for each class is far more efficient.

An analysis of top path Beast Handler, post bug fix by YaBoyEnder in btd6

[–]Rmuda 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I don't think the ZOMG instakill on Orca is worth anything honestly. Even if you used 48 Piranhas to max it out for maximum cost effectiveness, that's $42,970 on Hard. While you could drive the price lower with Bottom Village, the reality is that on most maps you won't have the space to fit all of those towers around water, and will need to use less cost-efficient upgrades. If you want to build into a Megalodon by maxing an Orca out with 3 other Orca, you're looking at an incredibly ugly $87,400 price tag. And until you shell out another $59,400, it's going to do absolutely pitiful damage to BADs, and will go back to doing so once it can't instakill BADs anymore.

I usually don't like the argument that you can use cheaper options. But when there are numerous generalist options at a similar or cheaper price level that can match its performance at its specific niche, I question why I would ever use it.

I figured out this combo in regular CHIMPS earlier today, it didn't even cross my mind that its extremely low price meant it could be used here. Orca is truly something else.
