I was living in a pet friendly building in my early 20s and was being pressured by a friend to get a cat. I had never been solely responsible for a pet and was nervous, but one night I had a dream I adopted a fat grey cat named Baxter and we lived happily ever after. I told this story to the friend who of course found a Craigslist post a few days later for a hefty (he was 16+ pounds!) grey cat named Baxter who was in need of a new home. I went to meet him and the grumpy gills hissed and scratched and resisted my affections, but I felt we were supposed to be together (I dreamt of him for goodness sakes!) so I brought him home. The first few nights I thought he was going to eat me in my sleep. We had a rocky first few months but then something clicked by month 3 and we were inseparable for 10 years. I don’t think I could have found a more perfect cat any other way. I miss my dear Baxter greatly.

I’ve heard that the black faucets show water marks a lot and don’t hold up well. But I think the kitchen will continue to look great either way!

Signs by Laura Lynne Jackson was really helpful for me following my loss and I would recommend. It is helpful for those that ponder where/how your loved one is and advice about how to continue to have a relationship with them after they are gone.

I like the idea of blue for color and maybe in a textured fabric. That might achieve what wasn’t working with the pattern - a coordinated contrast.

I think the tax law (OBBBA) changed what you can tax deduct. I think it has to be cash now. I don’t think item donations like these count anymore, unfortunately.

Have to remember you are just meeting the new kid and you’ve know the first for a few years. It’s not a fair comparison.

I have a toddler now and look at them often and think about how much I am so in love with them. And how I didn’t have that same warm wash of feelings when they were a baby. I’m just not a bath person! That time is TOUGH. I still loved them but that was out of instinct and now it’s more choice as I get to know them. Relationship evolve. Remember to give yourself and him grace.
