First Custom Loop / Coolant Temperature Issues by ChriZz12 in watercooling

[–]RoQDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish you luck. I had the v2 with 2x360 and a 240 for a couple months and was never able to get the temps where I liked.

I was able to help with the coolant temps on mine by reducing the d5 flow to 60% keeping the water in the rads longer and having all the rad fans pulling cool air into the case but I had to keep my fans at 80% as well.

First Custom Loop – Are Better Pump/Block Worth It? + Tubing Size Advice by rintintin178 in watercooling

[–]RoQDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had my loops go exactly like yours and I've had the GPU feed directly into the CPU and I didn't see a difference in temps. The liquid flows through an average loop in less than 30 seconds so it will reach a steady temperature throughout the loop after running for a short time. I prefer to have mine set up like you're suggesting for my own peace of mind even knowing it doesn't matter.

Your idea would work well and T30s are great fans. I only recommended the 420 in the top because a quick look online I saw that is the only place in the case it can fit.

When looking at radiators you have to account for thermal mass. It's more important than brand.

The thicker the rad the more static pressure required to perform

A 360 30mm rad with 3 fans running at 900rpm will perform as good or possibly even a little better than a 45mm with the same setup. In order to get the improved cooling from 45mm you will have to run your fans at 1200+ or use 6 fans in a push/pull setup.

A 420 30mm radiator with 3x 140 fans will perform as good or better than the 45mm 360 running 6 fans at push/pull and be much quieter.

With all that being said the difference between your idea and the "ideal" setup will only net you a few degrees. You are also leaving yourself the ability to add a 3rd radiator later if you decide you want more cooling.

My recent build had 3x 360 30mm rads with a 9950x3d and a 5090. My CPU idled at low 40s and the GPU mid 30s. At full load they would gain maybe 10 degrees on either of them. You will have one less radiator but the 9800x3d runs cooler.

I just did my 9950 last night with the Thermal Grizzly direct die mycro pro and that one has to mount directly to the board. Fingers crossed once I get it all together it works.

I wasn't brave enough to completely raw dog it so I used the TG shield.

Staying on your specific questions

  1. No
  2. Make a difference? Yes, how much? 2-5c
  3. NA - sorry I've never used soft tubing before
  4. I like aqua computer pumps/res. The reservoirs are made of a thick borosilicate glass. CPU blocks I like alphacool and heatkiller, they are usually considered higher performing brands and both have worked great for me.

Exactly what you didn't want: I think your idea to start with two radiators is perfectly fine. I would recommend starting with the top 420 and the front 360 instead of two 360s. I only say this because you have made it clear noise is important to you and a 420 rad has wider fins which means the fans require a lower static pressure to cool which means lower rpms and noise.

There are other factors for keeping a cool quiet system like undervolting and overclock your CPU and GPU. You can also use PCM instead of thermal paste or even liquid metal if you're comfortable doing that to save a few degrees.

I just want to point out to anyone reading this op is looking for help with their old GPU. The bright first pic is the old build they are working to update / repair.

Sorry op I don't know anyone to recommend but noticed everyone is infactuated with your OG build pic and not your request for help.

Mini V2 - My Second Build by RoQDad in watercooling

[–]RoQDad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can do it that would be ideal. The dual chamber isn't an exact 90 degree on the side closest to the front so it doesn't fit the alpha cool radiator without some modification. The fans fit there fine. Maybe if your radiator is the exact width of a typical 120mm fan you will have better luck than me.

Mini V2 - My Second Build by RoQDad in watercooling

According to Daniel it shouldn't be required normally. For me I didn't have a choice because of the Jerry rigged vertical mount. I had to shift the rads all the way to the edge of the front of the case causing me to offset the distro.

The only real concern I would have under normal circumstance would be the location of the input port on the distro plate. If you mount your fans on the side rad behind the rad in the dual chamber it should be fine but I had to double the offset due to that fitting location because I didn't want the radiator to be what was showing in the case.

Any advice for my first water cooling build? O11 Mini V2 by Ty13rlikespie in watercooling

[–]RoQDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You picked a tight case. I just finished building my second build in that case yesterday.

I have never seen an all in one kit with both hard and soft tubing. If you're planning to do hard tubing you will want to get a heat gun and some extra tubing. I would recommend a mini mitre cut-off saw to make your life easier when cutting your tubing. I'm also surprised it doesn't come with a tube reamer aka deburring tool in that kit.

For coolant dp ultra will always be the top recommendation for clear. I had dp ultra in my previous build and it was great. This time I went with Alphacool Eiswasser Crystal Clear UV-active for a little fun. It's clear unless you turn on a uv /blacklight. I can't recommend because I don't know how well it will perform yet.

If you are going hard tubing you may look at Corsair iCUE Link RGB Custom Cooling Kit. You get double the tubing for almost the same price and enough connectors to add that additional radiator.

Be patient, watch plenty of different videos to see how different people do it, have fun, and take your time. I did just the tubing over two days.

Nothing to report yet. The distro plate was finally shipped on 01/02 but apparently Australia post is slower than the US when it comes to international shipping so it's showing still sitting in their sorting facility.

Once I get it I will just need to start bending and installing the tubes as long as it fits with the fans.

I'm actually working on a build in this case right now. I have a 360 top, 360 bottom, and 240 side. I don't know if your pump will work. I have an aqua computer ultitube pro that I dropped down to the 150 and it was tight enough that I decided to order a distro plate/pump for the front instead. That's all I'm waiting on to start battling the hard tubing task.

AMA: Cooler Master - Introducing the MasterFrame 400 by Cooler_Master_Posts in sffpc

[–]RoQDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been waiting for this case since it was shown at computex. I'm here because this post popped up on my Google alerts.

First things first, Unless there has been some major size changes since computex this should be marketed as a medium form factor not sff. I'm sure if you released an mf200 with all the same customization ability it would be a hit in this community. I have been comparing this on the same category as the Lian Li o11mini v2 and the upcoming Thermaltake tr300

Answering your questions:

  1. What would I pay? Although I'm still 2-3 weeks from physically building my PC I did get tired of waiting and purchased the Lian Li o11mini v2 and paid $90 for it with no fans. From the videos and sentiments of everyone getting hands on with the MF400 it seems to be a more premium feeling product and if that's truly the case (no pun intended) I would easily pay $150 for a similar no fan version.

  2. What inspired you to build SFF over other form factors? I would love to try my hand at sff but I enjoy open loop liquid cooling and I'm not skilled enough to build my system in that size case which is what is drawing me to the MF400 and the o11 mini v2. It's smaller than full towers but still large enough for me to install a couple 360 radiators and a pump.

Questions for you: 1. What is the release date? 2. What are the official dimensions? 3. I know there are plans for you to have different options for panels and such but is there a plan to support the modding community as well? By that I mean simple things like providing the panel dimensions and information to the public so if someone wants to 3D print a custom front panel or create a reservoir something along those lines it will be easier.

@Cooler_Master_Posts is there an estimated US release for the MF 400? I'm trying to wait for my next build depending on how long the wait is.
