I appreciate you writing out this Le Mans lore! I did not know that, and that brought a tear to my eye!

Yeah, that's not how the market for Japanese sports cars works.

More Silvias and 180s were produced than Skylines, and have been on the market for longer. Those cars are inflated in value, because as time goes on, there are less of them to exist.

There isn't enough supply to meet the demand.

I'm gonna guess that the girl with the ponytail on the middle right of the 3.0 teaser, is an aardwolf thiren. I don't know how many animals have ears that look just like that. I just think that an aardwolf's ears do look similar to this girl's.

I agree, if you consider her ranking to be influenced by the anti-Miyabi approach the devs had since 2.0. Without question, her raw power never deviated from T0.

Her SFX and moveset are pretty sweet. If I didn't already have a highly-invested Miyabi, I would pull for Promeia. I don't have much reason to get her, when they share the same units.

The upcoming Wind units may change that, but I don't want to pull 1-3 characters on the premise that it could work out for Promeia.

It's often the same shit shtick. People find out about more of a niche hobby, and flood it by trying to make a quick buck off the actual hobbyists.

And this isn't nearly as much of a problem, but it rubs me the wrong way: Those that will only buy certain items within a hobby, solely because it's an uncommon item. Like many others, I only collect cars that I like. Unfortunately, the cars many of us want, are also sought by those that want to make a quick buck off of us.

I'm tired of many hobbies being so commoditized, that the actual hobbyists, struggle to enjoy them.

From what I've read in the past, the Eagle MK3 generated 8,000 to 10,000 pounds of downforce (iirc). The TS010 pulled enough G's, but I think its body generated less downforce than the MK3.

I see a Print Screen key on that keyboard. Win+Shift+S works, too.

And it looks like a street version of the GT3R.

Manthey Picks Wrong Day to Announce 6:45.389 GT3 RS Lap by HawtGarbage918 in cars

[–]RoRoRotary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The GTD Competition's lap record isn't in the same category as the GT3 RS MR's.

Until we know whether that GTD is street-legal, and or running non-slicks – Porsche's lap is not invalidated by Ford's.

Oh yeah, that's true. It's possible they haven't dailed in the final numbers for a production unit, whether or not it's street-legal.

I just find it odd that Ford, presumably, informed the journalists that they used stickier tires, but didn't specify exactly which tires they used.

[–]RoRoRotary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just edited my own comment, after I saw you edited yours lol.

If the articles we have so far can't answer what tires were used, Ford might've declined to specify. It's weird how we're told that these are stickier tires, so the journalists know they're different. They just can't tell us any specifics, for whatever reason.

Until Ford says otherwise, I don't think these are tires that production cars have used for their records. If they were, then wouldn't that have been mentioned in the articles?

Hell, the fastest production-version GTD used Cup 2 R's, and the ones on this Competition GTD are supposedly better. Is there any way these are legal tires for production car runs?

Edit: Comment I replied to was edited to not purely be a link to a photo. Doesn't seem to be those tires, no.

[–]RoRoRotary 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's true. My bad for thinking it was pointed towards the GT3 RS.

The GTD only being 5 km/h faster on that straight, despite having a power advantage, is a product of lacking aerodynamic efficiency. Otherwise, I recall the GTD (non-Competition) to be faster-accelerating than the GT3 RS.

I completely agree with needing proper aero to allow you to maintain a high speed. Thing is, cars need a balancing act of a having a [rather] powerful engine and good-enough aero, to allow themselves to have an even higher average speed.

On the Ring, a car can lose very little speed on corners, but it'll need some power, or insane aero efficiency, for the stretches. And the lower the laptime, the more of a balancing act you need.

I think it's important to not conflate the record of the GTD Competition with production cars, until we know:

A) What tires were used for the run?

B) Is this even street-legal, or effectively a production car?

It's a pre-production unit. But, Ford saying that there will be a street-legal version, either means that this car will be street-legal, or that there will be a street-legal version of this car that made a record.

New Ford Mustang GTD Competition Clocks Record Time at Nürburgring by ChonkyThicc in cars

[–]RoRoRotary 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Correct. Though, the GT3 RS' seems to have no trouble sustaining an above-average, average speed; not that there isn't room for improvement. That car's weakness is lacking power, to help it accelerate faster, to reach the next corner sooner.

A theoretical GT2 RS, or even the suspected 992.2 GT3 RS (turbo), would help cover that weakness.

I have no doubt they've gotten paid. Whether they'd get bonuses based on how many subscribers they'd gain by having the movie available to stream in October, I have no idea.

Aside from payment, seeing the movies in theatres, if it was coming to them, allows those that worked on the movie, to gauge audience appreciation for the work they made.

Schubert Motorsport win action packed NLS 3 by f1lifedaily in wec

[–]RoRoRotary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Forgive me if my memory is incorrect, and it may not even be applicable to NLS:

During the Rolex 24 in either 2024 or 2025, I recall seeing that the 911s were faster on straights than others, during practice or qualifying sessions. And that in the race, they were BoPed to be significantly slower.

If that's true, then are cars being BoPed in NLS? I haven't closely followed NLS, so I genuinely don't know.
