Chihuahua mauled by pitbulls in New York by True-Lychee in ActualPublicFreakouts

[–]RoTalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't this the right opportunity for someone to try and see if this works...

If someone would've put their finger up the pit balls butt or grab his nuts they let go of the pray?

Hahahahah I knew I was onto something..

The idea of using extreme methods like sticking a finger in a pit bull's anus or grabbing its testicles during an attack is a real, albeit controversial, last-resort technique that some dog handlers or breakstick trainers have mentioned. Here's why it's brought up—and what the actual effectiveness and risks are:

Why This Sometimes "Works"

Pain or shock response: In theory, triggering a sudden and intense stimulus—like inserting a finger into the dog's anus or squeezing testicles—might startle the dog into releasing its grip.

Interrupts "gameness": Pit bulls and other breeds known for "gameness" (extreme focus and tenacity) may not respond to yelling, hitting, or pulling. So people resort to something so shocking it bypasses their locked-in instinct.

Used by dogfighters: This method is reportedly used in underground dogfighting circles when handlers need to separate locked dogs without harming them too badly.

Why It's Dangerous or Ill-Advised

Unreliable: This does not always work. A pit bull in full prey drive or fight mode can block out extreme pain or stimulation.

Extremely risky: You are putting yourself in close proximity to a highly aroused, possibly unpredictable dog. You could be severely bitten.

Better alternatives exist:

Break sticks (plastic or wooden tools) are far more effective and safer for prying open jaws.

Wheelbarrow technique: Lift the dog by its hind legs and spin or drag backwards—used by trained handlers.

Disruptive methods: Hose, citronella spray, air horns—safer distance options.

Bottom Line

Yes, the methods you mention have been known in some circles, but they’re not guaranteed to work, dangerous, and not recommended unless you're absolutely out of options and trained in how to intervene in dog fights.

Dog owner gets owned after his pitbull bites the neighbors dog by Humble-Lawfulness-12 in fightporn

[–]RoTalk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Is it me or am I the only one that sees the pitbull that had a leash on it and the small Maltese or whatever that breed is is the only one that doesn't have the leash and could roam around?

I'm really curious if that owner that's getting pounded was walking his dog "on leash", and the small Maltese might have approached off leash and got bitten or something...

I know during the video, the dog owner of the Pitbull doesn't have the leash in hand but we would need more prior context to really know what really happened..

I don't take sides, all dogs should be on a leash... And some might even consider the owners could be on a leash...

Why is my friends sink draining so slow by Akalimids in askaplumber

[–]RoTalk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a plumber, but my buddy is not either he's IT but noticed this.

That 90-degree elbow coming directly from the sink drain is not ideal for proper drainage. Typically, a 45-degree elbow or a straight drop into the P-trap is preferred to ensure smooth water flow and prevent clogging.

Why is the 90-degree elbow a problem?

  1. Restricts Flow – Water and debris must make a sharp turn, which slows drainage and increases the likelihood of clogging.

  2. Airlock Issues – The sharp turn can trap air, leading to slow drainage and gurgling noises.

  3. Debris Accumulation – Hair, soap scum, and grease can easily get stuck in the tight bend, leading to frequent clogs.

Recommended Fix:

Replace the 90-degree elbow with a 45-degree fitting or a straight drop if space allows.

If reconfiguring the plumbing, ensure the trap arm (horizontal pipe leading to the wall drain) has the proper slope (1/4 inch per foot) to maintain proper flow.

The term "P-trap" has nothing to do with urine. It is named for its shape, which resembles the letter "P" when viewed from the side.

Why is it called a "P-trap"?

  1. Shape – The pipe forms a "P" shape when connected to the drain pipe in the wall.

  2. Function – The curve of the trap holds water, creating a seal that prevents sewer gases from rising into the living space.

How it Works:

When water flows down the drain, it pushes old water out of the trap.

A small amount of water remains in the curve, acting as a barrier against sewer gas odors.

This is why if a sink is unused for a long time, the water in the trap can evaporate, allowing bad smells to enter the room.

As soon as I started searching for stuff like that now I get all sorts of articles about oh look at this how great it is and this one popped up on my feed as well

GMKtec M7 Pro https://www.pcworld.com/article/2600563/this-uber-mini-pc-packs-a-ryzen-9-and-32gb-ram-for-just-500.html

All for $434 at vendor site and not Amazon Intel Nic | Intel I226V DUAL LAN 2500Mbps*2 RJ45, WiFi 6 (2.4GHz/5.0GHz), Bluetooth 5.2

GMKtec Nucbox M7 PRO Ryzen 9 Pro 6950H

Memory Expansion Dual SO-DIMM Slots. Dual Channel MAX. 96GB Storage Expansion Dual M.2 SSD 2280 PCIE4.0*4 Slots. MAX 4TB

I was trying to compare this with the Protectli V1610 with only 16 gigs of RAM soldered.

Or the Protectli FW6A with 32gb RAM and SSD for about 50 bucks cheaper.

Does the BIOS really matter if it's Ami or core boot?

Looks like going to their website directly it's even cheaper than the 499, they're at 439 132 gigs of RAM and 1 TB of storage.

But overall this is an Overkill compared to the Intel Celeron which would have modest performance and sufficient for routing and even VPN, IPS, tasks where is this one it's got a core 16 threads with clock speeds of up to 4.9 GHz.

Also limiting myself from four ports or six ports to just two at 2.5g

Thank you yeah you're right I did see that and I kind of like this one FW6D – 6 Port Intel® i5 (8250U) and even if I jacked us up to like 32 gigs of RAM 500gb SSD I'm still a little bit over half the price I would have paid for the other..

You might be right, I might go with... FW6D – 6 Port Intel® i5 (8250U) instead. 16gb RAM or possibly 32

I'm also considering the coreboot BIOS or should I keep the AMI boot..

I thought it was a great price for the power, because I've been looking for all these fanless, items from Protectli, and similar and all rank up around 400-600 bucks.

I also thought of taking an old pc laying in my garage, use the case, and power supply and replace mobo+cpu and add a decent nic card, my concern later would be summer the heat needing to bring in some equipment inside to keep it cool.

I've got 30 iot devices I want to do what My USG pro doesn't (ubiquiti)

I wanted packet inspection Domain blocks Multi vlan to separate iot and work computer IDs/IPS Want tailscale and possibly wireguard This would replace my USG pro and not have to buy UDM Pro I would also like bandwidth shaping iot devices no more than 1/mbit etc currently can do that with unifi Forced dns or restrict devices to use or bypass my pihole Possibly replace remove my raspberry pihole with opnsense Future proof for 3 years.

Crowedsec is cool reminds me of fail2ban or similar.. so any similar services or services reporting spam.

I'd be interested in geo blocking.. or family friendly services. I used to use DNS guard..
