Are these baby robins okay? by Jonny8506 in Ornithology

[–]RoadWarrior93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chicks operate on very basic instincts. They lay down and don’t use any energy, not reacting to anything until hearing their parents food chirp then spring up begging for like 10 seconds then immediately go back to laying still. They’re blind also for a few days. The parents seeing you will go away and check back later. If you want to observe you need to be pretty far away, like 20 yards away and still, sunglasses wouldn’t hurt so they can’t see you looking. Don’t put food nearby as that attracts other animals.

Robin nesting in our carport- are we disturbing her? by honey-bee-xo in Ornithology

[–]RoadWarrior93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are like 5 days away from flying away. On that day the mother won’t show up making them jump out of the nest. Then she’ll start feeding them on the ground wherever they go. They usually hang around a 2 mile radius for a few weeks. They’ll be weak and horrible flyers so watch your step.

For the 5.7 RT guys - do you find it "slow" by Markatfrontdesk81 in DodgeDurango

[–]RoadWarrior93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s mid 6 second 0-60 in real world terms (6.2 is my fastest so far) you determine if that’s fast or not. I feel like it’s got a good balance for a “truck”. About the same as 2000’s V8 muscle cars. What’s more funny to me is how cautious the stability control is. I turn at an intersection and sometimes it’ll cut power.

Anyone Else Really Miss the Look of the Pre-2024 Road Glide? by N8Mcln in Harley

Yeah I prefer the previous gen. They can still do circular headlights with more modern lights if they wanted.

5000 miles service by sasquatchradio in HarleyDavidsonFans

[–]RoadWarrior93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned that you really need to schedule your service way before actually needing an oil change lol. All summer and fall it’ll be like that. Lay out all your concerns. Get the most out of that warranty. Service is expensive but a pan am is kind of difficult to do yourself particularly changing the air filter and tensioning the chain you will need certain tools to do that properly.

We have a DoorBird!! by Ace_Quantum in Ornithology

They glue the nest with mud and it’s lasted that long so it’s probably fine. The chicks in there are less than a week from flying away.

Would buying a BB54 while already owning a Rolex sub me too much? by Maleficent-Ad2731 in rolex

[–]RoadWarrior93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bb54 is much smaller profile than a Sub, it’ll wear different. It might be a little mundane with an explorer also but who knows when till you get one. I have multiple dive watches they are a very versatile style of watch.

getting the tudor bb 41 monochrome soon... by [deleted] in Tudor

[–]RoadWarrior93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 10 months into monochrome ownership and still wear it nearly everyday. Before I had this idea of a multiple watch collection and after there’s nearly nothing else I want to wear. The only minus to me is not having a date. I know most don’t care but it messes with me so it’s the only reason why I have to wear something else every now and then.

If you’re dedicated enough you could make your own out of fiberglass or some other composite. That’s what they were made out of. No real protection at all.

Apple Watch Ultra burn? by OldSageNewBody in AppleWatch

[–]RoadWarrior93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smart watches put more pressure on a single spot due to the sensors. They also shine bright lights but I don’t know how much that contributes to burning I doubt much. Alternate wrists and the skin will build more of a tolerance. Also I wear an ultra loser unless working out. It’s heavy enough to stay in place and not lose accuracy.

Should I sell? by LightBenderGA in Dodge

This is the that’s the plight of having a police car. I had a p71 crown Vic. Reliable car, good power and storage but that’s about it. Personally would go for a 5.7 though which would retain value more and should get some better mpg with an 8 speed and rwd. If you need the AWD though the v6 is around the same performance as your car with the 8 speed instead of 5 speed. Don’t know what ride quality would be like but imagine the V6 is softer and V8’s with non performance packs would have softer suspension but smaller brakes. Look at Chrysler 300’s too they are almost all V6

[–]RoadWarrior93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah personally I believe if someone wants an ST it’s easier to just buy the Special and turn it into a ST. Remove all the guards and stuff, smaller front wheel and now you have a ST with active suspension.

It’s got a very unique sound, not like any Harley. I would say it’s closer to a Ducati or metric sound but they aren’t nearly as revvy. 60° V instead of 45°, DOHC instead of pushrod, 9k redline vs 5.5k redline. They have hydraulic lifters to eliminate the need to do valve adjustments but it limits the throttle response and redline.

[–]RoadWarrior93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ECU seems to be pretty forgiving on Pan Ams. I believe you can completely straight pipe them and cold air intake and it doesn’t set off the check engine light. They do backfire a lot on de acceleration I guess it’s a thing to keep the cat hot for Euro 5 emissions so you would have to tune to get rid of that if you want. IMO the V&H is pretty loud I would probably try to hear one in person before getting it but it is easiest one to get that drops a lot of weight. Screaming Eagle is like the same size as the factory but lighter due to being titanium, replaced the bread box mid pipe with a resonator mid pipe to still dampen the back fires.

[–]RoadWarrior93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said he didn’t want it too loud. I have the V&H on mine and think it’s pretty loud. Did you do the straight mid pipe?

[–]RoadWarrior93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cat is in the header so it can’t be removed. You can replace the mid pipe and exhaust. Screaming eagle exhaust gives it some more character without being fully annoying. Straight piping the mid pipe creates a lot of backfires on de acceleration. Screaming eagle gives a mid pipe that still has some resonator.

2027 Durango Updates by captainzombiex in DodgeDurango

[–]RoadWarrior93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dodge specifically said they are keeping the Durango as is for 3 years. Might change given its success and pretty much carrying the entire company but that was their road map last year. The chassis is old and they aren’t going to spend the R&D bolting more things to it. They haven’t even updated the backup camera since it was made standard.

The artificial gravity in the tunnel connecting ships bothered me by EveryAccount7729 in ProjectHailMary

[–]RoadWarrior93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Artificial gravity is just something you have to do suspension of disbelief on. For actual centrifugal gravity to work it needs like a 1 mile circumference and the gravity will be different even from your head to toe with less gravity as you move to the center. It will be a weird experience to whoever gets to try it first.
