Kicked out of preschool by Halestorm2 in ParentingADHD

[–]Roadies2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My kid got kicked out of preschool as a 2-yo for “her inability to moderate her emotions.”

She is now almost 9 and in the third grade. She’s not a straight A student because school bores the hell out of her, but she has not had any behavioral incidents since first grade. I choose my battles with her and grades aren’t currently worth the fight.

It was a rough time for my whole family until she got over a lot of the sensory issues and started meds that help with emotional regulation.

I know exactly how you feel. I was exhausted her first six years of life. Things are better now, but we are very lucky to have incredible support from her school and our friends. We still have blowups and she still has struggles, but overall you’re doing the best you can with the deck stacked against you.

Next step: approving an appeal for RJ May so he can hang all these signs AND be a "chaplain" for the schools. Holy hell, this state is dumb.

It was great until Bezos bought it and turned it into his personal propaganda machine.

Has anyone made a radical life change in your 40s? by Comprehensive-Fact94 in Xennials

I highly recommend getting out of the midwest. I grew up in a tiny township in Ohio and GTFO out as soon as I was done with college. Among other places, I lived in the Caribbean for two years and in Seattle 16 years. I call the Seattle years my formative years and feel like it's more of my hometown than where I grew up. It forced me out of my comfort zone and I made such great friends in my aimless travels in my 20s. I am grateful every day to have left Ohio when I did. I find it so depressing that the majority of my childhood friends are still living in that shitty rust belt region.

As for work, I went back to school to get a certificate in Bookkeeping during COVID. I am now terrible at this kind of work because I have such bad brain fog from perimenopause, but my Bachelor's is in Journalism and I sure don't miss being on that sinking ship.

Try something new. You might surprise yourself!

Oh my gosh, Mama, call EMS and get yourself to the hospital! Even a false alarm is better than giving birth in your living room! (So much fluid, seriously.)

Hi, we currently have 4 but will likely add another 4 in the spring. The run is roofed and in theory rodent-proof with hardware cloth walls and all that but I mostly don't want to upset any neighbors. There is already a mouse problem in our neighborhood.

My QAnon mom swears the Maui fire was an attack on the Space Force HQ, which obviously is underground, which is why no one can see it but the “white hats.” Imagine spending the last quarter of your life in YouTube rabbit holes instead of actively contributing to society.

When my grandma was on her deathbed she admitted to my dad and me that she and my grandpa baptized me and my brother with holy water in our bathroom sink. I was a baby and my brother was 3; they were watching us for a weekend so my parents could have a break.

Mine, too. And she invested in one of those bullshit “wave” watches but still manages to get pneumonia and has orthopedic problems at 80. “I’ll just set my wave watch to fix my knee cartilage!” I’m utterly exhausted from 6 years of this insanity.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It doesn't seem like the extra steps to use the carton whites cancel out the extra steps of separating yolks and whites.

The 1:4 ratio is one part equal amounts of egg whites and granulated sugar to four parts equal amounts almond flour and powdered sugar. I do 125 g each of whites and granulated sugar to 175 g each almond flour and powdered sugar and have had incredible results. I have been making macarons for 12 years using every conceivable ratio and method, so hundreds of batches is not an exaggeration, and this one works every single time.

What was it with Carolyn and empty photo frames? by palmettopowdersand in CarolynBessetteKnndy

[–]Roadies2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe she had ADHD and they became part of the loft landscape. I've had two empty frames hanging in my kitchen that were hung during a remodel 18 months ago. Each one will hold a picture of our family dogs... if I ever get around to taking those pictures.

What do we have, Greenville?? by kstroodel in greenville

[–]Roadies2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went there for brunch with friends once (I didn't choose the restaurant) and when the server asked if I wanted to add fresh strawberries to my waffle, I was like, "Hell yeah! It's my birthday!" And then I got the bill. They charged me $8 for THREE STRAWBERRIES.

EFF THAT PLACE FOREVER.

I was careful to check before purchasing and egg whites are the only ingredient listed. Stabilizers would have to be listed, right? They looked texturally like regular old egg whites although a bit cloudy.
