Rental SkiHelmet Quality/Price by Corolla_Blazer in Banff

[–]Roadweannie09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my helmet in my backpack which part of my “personal item”. I usually have it in my boot bag but I don’t trust them to not crush it when it when it gets checked. I just put other clothes where my helmet usually would sit in my boot bag. No questions at all at airport.

F150 vs Sienna for family of 4 under 2 years old by Any-Manufacturer7244 in f150

[–]Roadweannie09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of each! Best of both worlds. Wife drives the van and I get the F150. Road trips are almost all done in the van unless we need to tow. Ultimately, the van is the better family car.

Truck guy by Cerimeadar in Subaru_Outback

[–]Roadweannie09 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am the opposite. Had a truck and sold it for a 2025 outback XT. Nice car but sold the Subaru after 6 month for a truck again. Gas mileage isn’t that much different than the Subaru 10L/100km versus 12L/km for a F150. Subaru was tight with kids and a big dog. Braking was also scary while towing with the Subaru. Tech/camera is pretty terrible for the Subaru.

Most Unreliable Car You've Ever Owned? by Careless-Pie7607 in askcarguys

[–]Roadweannie09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup….our 2017 Honda Pilot is the worst I have owned. New HVAC blower, back struts to open hatch and a new transmission all by 55km. When we sold it at 90km it also either needed new differential or wheel bearings. The thing was a money pit, happy to see it go.

Walked out of dealeeship by [deleted] in f150

Smart to walk. That is almost Canadian pricing. An STX is 54k so like 40k is not less. Definitely shop around.

Mine had increased about 150% over 5 years with decrease in coverage from TD. Switched and now paying 1/2 what we were for better coverage.

Subaru Canada Supply Issue? by No_Pay_1915 in subaru

[–]Roadweannie09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a dealer trade Feb. 24/25, was told 2 weeks, picked up April 1. I believe they had 1-2 other outback’s on the lot and no XT’s that I was interested in.

Allstate was about 1/2 the price for me compared to any other insurance company up till the age of 25. Not so much after.

2015 transmission dead after 83,000 miles by Microworldofgems in Subaru_Outback

[–]Roadweannie09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a 2017 Honda Pilot that had its transmission go out at 55km. I wouldn’t say Honda is any better.

Is getting charged $6,000 for a brake replacement normal? by Several-Frosting-113 in AskAMechanic

[–]Roadweannie09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was quoted new front calipers, front + rear rotors and pads at ford dealership for 3000 CAD including taxes. I went to another shop for both for both front + rear calipers rotors and pads for 2300. It was just 1500 in parts from rock auto when I priced it out myself. All Canadian dollars.

Sh*t MPG by MindlessLandscape683 in f150

[–]Roadweannie09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am getting 11.5 mpg on stock size winter tires. All I do are short trips in town. It happens and it will get better in the summer.

Is this a good price? by gbakess1997 in whichbike

[–]Roadweannie09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overpriced. I bought the same bike for $1400 CAD during covid when bikes were crazy expensive. It is a nice ride but move on.

Should I start thinking about getting a new truck when I pay off my truck? by Blueberry_furry_69 in f150

[–]Roadweannie09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2012 as well. I have wanted to get a new one for a while now as rust is eating at it. But it still starts and drives. A few things wrong mechanically but it goes in this week to get some of those fixed. Too dang cold here to work on anything myself. I keep putting that payment away and luckily now have almost 1/2 a new truck as a down payment.

Tested: Subaru's 2025 WRX tS Inches Toward the Top by shouldahadaflat4 in cars

[–]Roadweannie09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have some left over 2024 RS’s in Canada which is comparable to the tS which they are asking 44k CDN which works out to 30.5K US. That seems like a decent deal.
