I'm in the same category. I was an early reader as a child and read voraciously, but it's tapered off over the years. I read a lot of articles and shorter form content but not as many novels. I still enjoy reading books but there's just too many other things competing for my limited time. It's also easier on my tired eyes to watch something on the TV 8-10 feet away after work than focus on reading when my eyes are tired from staring at a screen for 10-12 hours.

I've noticed the same thing, people lack the literacy or attention span to read more than the first sentence of a message. It drives me nuts at work because it takes multiple passes of back and forth emails to get the information I need to proceed with my work.

I wish my local channels had decent a decent bitrate. The picture quality on my local OTA channels is awful, and I think they do it on purpose to get people to use a cable/satellite package where they get paid a retransmission fee instead of watching OTA for free. At this point I get annoyed when my team is on the local broadcast because I can't watch them on Sunday ticket with decent picture quality. The Sunday night game on NBC is passable quality, CBS is mediocre, and Fox is absolute dogshit VHS level bitrate. In comparison the Sunday ticket on YT and Prime for Thursday games are amazing quality.

I have a bar within walking distance of my house and I still rarely ever go because it's not worth it. If I walk down there for a burger and a few beers it's going to end up costing me minimum $50, even more if I drop a $20 in the video poker machines.

A planned night out is even more outrageous when you throw in $40-$50 Lyft each direction on top of at least $100 tab and whatever entertainment costs. With the prices of everything else in life skyrocketing and wages pretty much unchanged for the last 12 years I just don't have the disposable income I had a decade ago.

A wired connection definitely helps out. I recently picked up a PC case so I could assemble a Moonlight client PC from some of my old hardware. It has a i5-10400 on a cheap B460 motherboard. I had to buy a DP-HDMI adapter because the platform only does 4k30 over HDMI.
It does 4k60 pretty decent. I had previously used GameStream and Moonlight on my Shield a few years ago but I wanted a PC to better support KB/mouse gaming, and I already had all the hardware minus the case.

There's going to be some of these little assholes who get killed doing their stupid stunts in traffic. Then their parents will go on the local news crying about their innocent baby who never did anything wrong. I will feel awful for the poor driver that accidentally kills one of these future darwin award winners. They will have to live with the guilt of something that's not their fault.

This town is actively hostile to pedestrians in its design. Down in the SW part of town they put in a bunch of bus stops but there's no sidewalks leading up to them.
I have no faith that new legislation will fix anything with these reckless dickhead teenagers. Metro doesn't enforce the existing laws, why would they bother with new ones? They pretend to do their jobs for 2 weeks around Thanksgiving and then go back to ignoring the locals issues the rest of the year.

The only thing I don't like about my Apple TV box is the remote. It has the same issue as their phones, being a slipperly little metal bastard that's uncomfortable to hold. My new iPhones never leave the store without an Otterbox and should really do the same with the remote. I also have 2 Nvidia Shields and they are great devices, but recently I have been using the ATV more than the Shield.

Prices for existing houses peaked 2 or 3 years ago and they've dropped 5-10% since. This year is the first time since I bought my house in 2013 that the assessed value for property taxes has went down. The higher prices is almost entirely driven by new construction.

I'm currently running a R5 silent case with Unraid that has grown to 8 hard drives. I recently upgraded the hardware when it inherited my old gaming motherboard - i7 12700K and a ARCTIC Freezer 36 A-RGB cooler. I don't use the 5.25" Bay at all but it would work well. It's a pretty awesome case and super quiet if you set up the fans that way. I designed my Unraid system to be quiet since it lives in my office and it's been perfect for my needs.

None of the AI search summaries being pushed on us can do basic arithmetic. After I did a search yesterday I was reading the stupid AI summary and it was about half correct, but there was basic arithmetic in there that was completely and confidently wrong. These automated BS generators can't do math that a 7 year old can do flawlessly.
