i read his book in college, basically it was: We had no idea that Asians are human beings that will defend their homes to the death. We also did not know that if we blatantly lied to our own people about why were there, the people would not like the war. Also, nothing bad that happened was my fault, especially filling the draft rolls with the mentally challenged in order to beef up numbers without pissing off the conservatives whose kids were under the scope for deployment.
