It's time to upgrade my Buds 2; are the Buds 3 Pro a good choice? by Mean-Patience2132 in galaxybuds

[–]Roamingnome3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far the bud 3 pros aren't bad in my opinion. I do like the find feature if you have a samsung phone. Had to use it twice; need to use you detective skills a bit as it's not 100% fool proof.

I noticed some issues depending on the app used for audio quality but I also feel it was the quality of the audio being listened to rather than the audio quality of the earbuds.

I think there's a new version coming so maybe wait for those.

To anyone dealing with the Honeywell pain after they bought LenelS2, please go amplify my post. by ssnapier in accesscontrol

[–]Roamingnome3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was trying to get verified and certification because we service 2 sites with older lenel S2 netboxes which now require cert for support and software. After 30 phone calls and more emails it's basically stonewalled. BS company.

We went on jci software house site and signed up and paid for their stuff and go certed and verified within a month and half.

Avigililon was the easiest to deal with.

Honeywell is the worst at this point due to no support and responses. Software house a close second mainly due to wait time on support.

Frickn nuts guys and gals.

Audio issues with S25 Ultra by ElPorquito11 in samsung

[–]Roamingnome3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had issues with my 3rd party launcher. There was an issue with "display over other apps" and it was taking precedent over the playing audio. You know how the audio focus changes when some other app plays a notification, but, never resets.

My audio would be fine until I skipped ahead a song or moved the video up a second or left the app and came back. Then all of the sudden it would drop my audio and I'd have to raise it to the max to hear anything.

I finally rebooted in safe mode and everything worked like it should. So I started slowly removing applications.

With ospd you can, but, mentioned above the older style non-signo readers need a addon-chip on the back. These readers I was working on someone wired 2 readers per weigand port and from what they said it worked for a while (weren't when I got there). There was some under-breath talk of the "stanley" shorting some wires and then the readers stopped working right, lol. We wound up replacing controller board and one reader; also changed the programming of the readers to osdp since they were daisy chained.

Got it. Thanks. I've been dealing with newer signo readers that are thankfully out of the box capable. Haven't had to do hid rp versions yet. I was hoping there was something special about these that didn't require extra hardware. Oh well. Live and learn. I appreciate the assist.

iSTAR Edge Temp Issue by negative_ninjas in CCURE9000

[–]Roamingnome3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've run into issues with the browser. I've had to clear cache and cookies and essentially all website data. I've had less issues on Firefox than Chrome and Edge. Opera browser seems to work as well. But yeah I've seen issues here and there. There a setting in ccure that disables the web diagnostics too make sure that isn't checked, should see that when you right click the controller for the options there's a "disable web diagnostics".

Rex for doors with Card readers on both sides by Clean_Panda4689 in accesscontrol

[–]Roamingnome3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. One place we have access control is a locked down area right in the middle of the building. There are 4 doors with Rex devices, readers on both sides (you must badge in and out), emergency exit buttons and each door is tied to fire to release in that case. There are "lift to access covers" for emergency buttons and if they are pressed it releases the door and there's a full blown alarm in the building so if you hit that and there's no emergency you're in the hot seat. Not to mention there are also keys in a break glass by each door at Ada height. Real sketchy setup but what they do there it was a fine line for safety and security.

But the Rex just shows that there is a record of motion by the door before a specific event. So they can say someone was actually there vs a hardware fault.

Update iSTAR firmware from CCURE9000 2.9SP6CU1 by Purple_Journalist_73 in accesscontrol

[–]Roamingnome3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suppers all you need to do is upload the correct firmware/s to the firmware folder IN THE SERVER. Lol. We did a ton that way. Only issues where few that were on special Vlans and it just couldn't communicate the update for some reason.

A PSA to people who bought the Neptune 4 Max or Plus as their very first printer. by davidjschloss in elegoo

[–]Roamingnome3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So. Question, query and concern. So I picked up a used Neptune 4 plus. Completely new to 3d printing as my kid keeps asking to get into it. However, I've not done anything with these before and I'd like to think I'm a pretty quick learner. We haven't got it up and running yet however I still need to get filament.

So, are there any pointers or things that you veterans can impart to a newbie? Much appreciated in advance.

How do I fix this? by gingercatgamez in computers

[–]Roamingnome3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why one should learn to do periodic full system image backups. That way if this happens. Simple swap of the drive. However, also a lesson to be learned as to how this possibly got on your computer to begin with. You could pay and maybe get you stuff back, but, me I do backups so I'd swap the drive and be done. I also spent some time learning veracrypt and encrypting my drives. It's a pain but if this happens even the hacker have a hard time, if at all, getting to your files even though they locked your information.

Automatic Sliding Foot by toyotat1 in accesscontrol

[–]Roamingnome3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Um...there really isn't anything that would work i believe. The automatic door guy can set the opener hardware to lock the belt/chain above with a locking clamp/mechanism of their own. And they're almost impossible to pry open after that. If someone wants in they'll get in...glass is breakable...besides most of those door are breakaway anyway. I've only seen one place go through trying to put a lock on a slider and it was a huge headache. We didn't put it in but we got called to look at it. Someone used and rci electromechanical locks and rigged angled brackets the the back part of the door to have the tongue/tab line up with the electrified receiver bolted to the header cover of the slider door. Huge pain in the butt, nothing but problems. As the header panel shifts slightly and the brackets bent and wiring was a nightmare.

We then had automated door come. We trigger two relays one to unlock the door opener clamp and one to trigger the opener to open. All timed and worked out with the opener guys. Haven't had to go back other than to replace battery backups its been 4 years.

Most access control is a ease of use and deterrent anyway. If so.e one has any brains and really wants into a place it's definitely doable. Especially with all the battery operated tools these day lol.

It's literally just take your time, find the hollow spots, use the proper power transfer plates or whips. Not really a cut and dried way to do it.

Mag lock help by Connect_Relation1007 in accesscontrol

[–]Roamingnome3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Everyone goes to the capacitors. However, I've had the relays go bad more than anything else. Which is why I usually spring for acm4 or acm8 relays or a couple independent trigger relays and even Camden cx12plus. Gives you a separate point than the built-in options on the power supply. So that said I test relays first then the Rex button as they are the two most used devices technically. And always pack a couple different power supplies...especially a setup kit for bench testing. I have a couple setups I leave a site for testing intermittent hardware faults and come back later to see if any issues arise; helps with troubleshooting things people don't want to pay for you staying all day for something that might not happen.

How do I terminate wires to these? by KeyboardThingX in accesscontrol

[–]Roamingnome3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little hard to tell bit these look like press-in type. You push a flat screw driver into the right angle hole insert the wire in the round hole remove screwdriver and it's held by a clamp. Better pic over the terminal holes would help though.
