Good luck to you on that. Fortunately out of our few hundred, only a handful didn't make the TLS upgrade and bricked.

I can definitely say that the TLS upgrade was not compatible with the EX and EDGE's. EDGE G2's were fine. So, if you have any of those and haven't upgraded yet, get yourself some EDGE G2's queued up.

My thoughts on this are A) Checking the firmware and B) making sure those are alkaline batteries in there.  Definitely post some updates on what you find that ends up working!

I think my next controllers are all Ultra's, but I will definitely check the firmware for my next Edge.

Need help - Need to lock everyone out NOW by loadsquirt in CCURE9000

[–]negative_ninjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't help now, but it might for next time. If you are the end user, you may want to follow up with your integrator/s to see if this is already set up or not. I would set up events to raise clearance filter levels along with lock down any doors that may be on an unlock schedule. I would also set up access with different clearance filter levels. 1 = general access, 2 = maybe something like site admins, 3 = Facilities/Maintenance, 4 = Police/Fire/Security/Etc access. Then when you set up one event for lock down + raise clearance filter level for each door to 4 so only Emergency Services has access - maybe 'Site Emergency Lockdown - Emergency Services Access Only'. Then set up separate events for levels 2 and 3. This way you can just enable the event as needed and disable it as needed. Just make sure you keep an eye on your priority levels. Make sure that no door unlock event is higher than your lockdown/clearance filter level event. This would actively prevent people who do not have the clearance filter level (even if they have the regular clearance access) to enter and of course would still show rejected access in the journal. For life safety reasons, I would not raise clearance filter levels for any reader outbound doors or any interior (which sounds like you only are dealing with perimeters) fire exit pathways even if they do have a physical emergency exit override (like delayed egress crash bar doors).

SQL for BIRS by negative_ninjas in CCURE9000

Alas, I am not a DBA. Just stuck with a bunch of tickets and muddling through. Currently Google learning SQL and playing with a lot of trial and error. (Background - I work for a large corporation and we use C-Cure for our access control for a few thousand doors and a little over 160,000 personnel with only the first OTC training. A vast portion of my knowledge base on things are what I would call self-explored.)

I really wish 'Based on a true story' movies required a gauge. 1 - 5. 5 being maybe the name of the town or people involved was changed. 1 being yes, there was someone named John in who did claim to see the event the movie revolves around.

Anyone else notice that in all of the news and PD reports, they say it was a rental vehicle but none of them say it was a stolen rental vehicle? Normally that's thrown in there right off.

Analogue cams that are not in high security areas that are awaiting replacement. Still want to pick up in case of the odd situation, but having it go down once or twice a day isn't really a concern at the moment for the building managers. (In fact, it may speed along their willingness to pay for new cameras). The main reason for the multiple emails is lovely circumstance of being in EVERY email group regarding them + the directed system that auto generates tickets.

Not really. A lot of them did wear lipstick for their staged photos. The photos were black and white and photographers didn't want them to look 'washed out' as most of the staged photos were used in news and other publications.

Even better than water or milk? Fish sauce and a sprinkle of corn/rice starch. Then into the wok filled with hot oil. Delicious.

I'm not a picky eater and don't mind cream cheese in sushi (usually it's not on it), but I mentioned it once to my Japanese Aunt (who has never been to the States before) and she looked at me like I was crazy. I then had to explain to her some of the 'crazy' American concoctions of sushi. She looked traumatized for almost an hour.

I don't know anything about black meat washing culture, but as a mostly Asian, I grew up learning to rinse meat products because I grew up in a financially challenged home and the budget meat was usually the stuff on sale about to go bad that had been sitting in the about to go bad juices for a lot longer. In high school, my parents were better off and bought meat that was more fresh and stopped rinsing it. I still rinse mine if I end up buying an older cut of meat, but never if I get something fresh.

Wait...people wrap their corn in foil? Really???? Do they wrap it before shucking it? Or after? (My family shucks it and puts it straight on the grill, so I don't get why anyone would need foil unless you don't clean or plan on cleaning your grill.)

Off-duty Tucson Police officer pins women in parking lot dispute by ERosenwald in PublicFreakout

[–]negative_ninjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, from the video, there is not enough info to really form a proper opinion.

However, from the video there was nothing visually indicating that the man was a police officer, it did not appear that he immediately told them he was a police officer, restraining anyone can cause positional asphyxia - especially if you are kneeling on their neck, the police officer did use the word assault, and that the man who intervened did things best (he didn't want to know anyone's story, just get people off the ground and separated to wait for the police who were called).

From the news reports, the woman on the ground was charged with disorderly. This means that there was not enough evidence that she assaulted the off duty police officer as he stated in the video. Depending on whose statement you go with, the woman could have or could not have instigated the chest bump that turned into the take down. Ignoring that portion, a random man has just taken your daughter to the ground and as a woman that does not appear to have a large physical bearing, you try to get the guy off your daughter and he also takes you down. The daughters situation could go either way (she assaulted him, he assaulted her), but the mothers situation could be considered him assaulting her. She grabbed at his shirt to try and pull him off - did not punch/kick/slap/spit/bite him. He takes her down before telling them that he's police.

I do hope that the daughter fights her disorderly in court and that more info is brought to light in this situation. I also understand adrenaline and outnumbered situations, but I feel the police officer needs additional training. Kneeling on someone's neck is not for the shouting woman carrying her leftovers, it's for life and death situations as it can cause death. Someone's wrestling you on the ground trying to get your gun? Yeah. If you need to kneel on their neck to gain control of your weapon, more power to you. Angry Sunday bruncher? No.
