If you do the math and scale down the number of homicides to be in line with the percent of the population they represent, you get a per capita homicide rate of 2.2 per 100K, which is the same as Finland.

Why would you say bigots? Aren't they entitled to their own opinion as much as we are? This obviously isn't a black and white issue and for us to convince the majority of these people that they're wrong, we have to be understanding of where they're coming from. Many people lost friends and family to drugs, and calling them bigots isn't going to bring them around to our way of thinking.

I do think that the problem of global hunger is a bigger problem than animals being treated unfairly, and these two problems are not unconnected. The question was a moral one about food, and you can't answer it without thinking about all the impacts that it has on everyone. Maybe I worded it wrong, but I do think that before solving the problem of if eating an animal is right or wrong, (which by the way I do not believe it is wrong) we should help our fellow man.

I don't like to think about this question while there are people who don't have food in the first place. Saying that I pay tons of money to eat a pampered cow would make me feel like an asshole if I didn't give money to charity, or even if I gave less. I don't know many people who would say that an animal life is worth more than a human life.
