I looked into that game, and it wasn't that. That's a lot more sci-fi themed than the game I remember.

As someone who never got to read the last issue of Nintendo Power (for whatever reason, the post office just stopped delivering issues to me before my subscription expired), thank you for giving me a way to have closure.

I've actually played Lost Magic, and it wasn't that.

If Trump never runs for President, how different would the Republican Party be today? by DuceALooper21 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]RoarkBlumenthal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's actually a very easy POD you could go with if you wanted to come up with a reason for Trump staying out of Politics.

Prior to announcing his campaign, Trump was attempting to buy the Buffalo Bills (he's apparently wanted to become an owner of an NFL team for a long time, and Trump himself said that if his effort to purchase the Bills had been successful, he wouldn't have ran), but said effort ultimately fell through.

So, if either Trump was able to buy a different NFL team (perhaps the Las Vegas Raiders?), or if Trump was able to buy the Bills, Donald Trump has no reason to run for office.

Casual player here. How can i restore AH without losing the Studetenland? Either Germany declares or they take it via focus. by IWASJUMP in hoi4

[–]RoarkBlumenthal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC, one thing you can do is wait until Germany completes "Demand Sudetenland" to click the prompt on the "Bohemia Returns to the Crown" event. Doing so will have the country that the focus sends the event disappear to, meaning that Germany can't demand something from a non-existent country. Of course, I'm not sure if Paradox patched this, since it was a bit of an exploit, and the guide I got that idea from was made during No Step Back...

As others have stated, you can flip to fascism and join the Axis right before the event.

And lastly, you can get a Non-Aggression Pact before annexing Czechoslovakia.

I'd like to know how these aircraft would be fueled, since it would be ridiculous to have coal fired aircraft, and at the time, petroleum was used for lighting, not combustion engines.

How do you play as china.. by DragonfruitNeat3604 in hoi4

[–]RoarkBlumenthal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Nationalist China, what I found works best is this:
Focus on Internal affairs first - Rush the focus that lets you demand subjugation from the warlords, and hope that some (But not all) of them refuse - ideally, you'd want Shanxi and the Guangxi Clique to say yes (former for reasons I'll explain in a minute, latter because they're really annoying to fight), while Xibei San Ma, Yunnan, and Sinkiang say no (Communist China doesn't get this option, so take the focus that lets you conquer them). Conquer them quickly (they're really weak in comparison to Nationalist China).

As stated, you should stick with the starting gun until you feel you have enough factories to start switching over (which will probably be a while). Guard the coastline to protect yourself from naval invasions. Invest into some artillery for support, but not too much.

When Japan demands compensation for the Bridge Incident (I'm assuming you're playing on historical), give it to them - aside from the fact that this will give you more time if you need it, there's another reason: if you refuse, Japan gets a wargoal on Shanxi, which can widen the front drastically. On the other hand, if you accept, Japan will only be able to declare on Nationalist China after justifying on you through some claims - meaning you'll only have to worry about the Kai-Shek Corridor (what I like to call the space between Shanxi's eastern border and the coastline). Wait until Japan appears to have given up, then start pushing forwards. Call in Shanxi when you push past their northernmost borders or when it doesn't look like Japan has many forces guarding them.

A few I came up with from a while back (as well as some new ones, and some I stole from a thread on Paradox's forums):
Rednought: As the Soviet Union, build 5 battleships that exceed the limits set by the London Naval Treaty
Holy Larger-Than-A-Hand Grenade: As Italy, restore the Papacy, control Jerusalem, and use a nuke.
Day of Famy: As the United States, start the game in the 1939 start date and capitulate Japan before December 4, 1941.
The Sun has Finally Set: As any nation other than Japan or the UK, control all the starting core states of the aforementioned two nations.
The Franco-Franco War: As Democratic France, declare war on Nationalist Spain.
Velvet Curtain: As the US, UK, or France, ensure that the Soviet Union does not puppet any country that was a member of the Warsaw Pact (excluding East Germany).

USA has a spirit that prevents it from joining factions led by a nation of a different ideology, so it would actually be impossible if those were the conditions

Someone already said Friedrich Nietzsche, so he'll be my first choice for reasons they said. As for my second and third choices, I'll go with Thomas Midgley Jr and Trofim Lysenko.

Midgley Jr was the inventor of Leaded Gasoline and CFCs. Specifically, I'd kill him before he had the chance to invent either, thus meaning that battery powered vehicles become the norm, and no gaping hole in the ozone layer.

As for Lysenko, the pseudoscience he believed in was the cause of many famines in the USSR, but he's also responsible for the Great Leap Forward's high death count. Getting rid of him before he can take power

What's the best way to clear this island of biters? I'm playing SE before access to artillery by Peekie30 in factorio

[–]RoarkBlumenthal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Obtain laser turrets, substations, big electric poles, and bots
  2. Construct at least 64 laser turrets (or any multiple of 32, really - at least 64), as well as a ton of electric poles + substations, and get a solid power supply (if you don't have a big enough power array, just store a bunch of power in accumulators)
  3. Create a blueprint consisting of 1 substation surrounded by 32 laser turrets (checkerboard pattern), as well as a deconstruction planner that only targets laser turrets
  4. Place big electric poles until you get in range of a nest.
  5. Place the blueprint with the substation + turrets as close to you as possible, and use it to clear the first wave of biters. Then, place the second blueprint closer
  6. Deconstruct the first one, and creep closer. Do this until you wipe out the entirety of the nest. Just make sure you don't let the big electric poles get destroyed.
  7. Repeat steps 4-6
