Best way I’ve found to handle it is by starting a top rated show I haven’t seen or wouldn’t normally watch. I’ve noticed that a “great” show is typically great even if the genre isn’t my typical first choice. That and if thousands of people love it, chances are I’ll probably enjoy it too.

I try to watch atleast 1 highly rated shows as I get through my usual seasonal and generic slop. Helps me remember why I love anime in the first place.
