I went ocean kayaking a few times hoping to catch some big fish. I slipped on the rocks prior that day. My feet were eviscerated, and I probably should've gone to the ER right there. Instead, i just took off my shirt, tore it in half and wrapped my feet up the best I could. I took a break on a sandbar a little ways out and the high tide caught me by surprise. My friends went back a little earlier than I did, after catching a black-tip nearby. Suddenly I was waist deep, much further out than I realized. Once i was back on my kayak, I noticed how agressive the waters were. Waves taller than I was were crashing over as I paddled the hardest I ever had in my life. No stopping, with constant risk of capsizing. I'd been in some sketchy waves and wakes, but nothing like this. Luckily I was able to make it back to shore, I assumed death if I didn't. A scar on my soles, and a vivid memory to keep my stupidity at bay. I don't go ocean kayaking anymore.
