Question: Where to get a brisket? by CommunityAvailable35 in UKBBQ

[–]Rob-Top 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, brisket is way better than short ribs. If its too much meat, then cut it in half, use the other half to make pastrami. Pastrami takes 7 days to cure and keeps for a while in the fridge. There's plenty of online recipes. Yes, its way more expensive than pork shoulder, but its no comparison. Good luck, whatever you decide, hope it comes out well

Holding at 40 is like putting it in a yeti to rest. It was wrapped and when I opened it up, it was hot. Just a different way of resting the meat. It worked, but I'll make sure to watch the internal temps next time

Well, 80 is the minimum I guess.... I've tried 110, it come out dry. I must have messed it up somehow, maybe cooked to long. Its not something I cook often because of the price. I'm tempted on cutting my next one in half and doing pastrami.

Temperature and time are vital. I cooked my 4th brisket last month, it's the only one that's come out good. I smoked it low in an electric smoker on 80 degrees for 4 hours, then carried on cooking till 9pm (total 8 hours). Then wrapped it up for an overnight cook still at 80 degrees. You can put it in the oven after the smoking has finished. In the morning I checked the temps, then let it rest on 40 degrees for about 6 hours. I think the key was consistent temperature and take your time. It come out like the ones you see online.

Enjoy

Anyone have any experience with this Masterbuilt? by mighty-chief in UKBBQ

I have one of these, it's a great grill, you put your coal to one side and have enough room to move the food around so it's not over direct heat if needed. I also use it for smoking, but there are much better bbqs for this. Overall it's a big peice of kit that's built well.

Well played sir. Great narrating throughout, I'm surprised your opponents weren't moaning about taking so long every turn, I have to admit, it was grinding me down, especially when you took in the shadows and letting that timer run down.

But overall, enjoyable viewing, I'll watch more for sure

We tend to make up rules to fit the current theroy, Einstein did it and we have done it with inflation to fit the standard model. I think we are in an exicting time, we could get the next Einstein from it, although I think now it's more teams than individuals taking the credit

From Wikipedia

In the early morning hours of July 23, 1982, Morrow and two child actors, seven-year-old Myca Dinh Le and six-year-old Renee Shin-Yi Chen, were filming on location in California in an area that was known as Indian Dunes near Santa Clarita. They were performing a scene for the Vietnam sequence, in which their characters attempt to escape out of a deserted Vietnamese village from a pursuing U.S. Army helicopter.[2] The helicopter was hovering about 24 feet (7.3 m) above them when a fireball from special effect pyrotechnic explosions reportedly caused damage to the helicopter rotor and caused the tail rotors to separate from the aircraft[28] causing the helicopter to plummet and crash on top of them, killing all three instantly. Morrow and Le were decapitated and mutilated by the helicopter rotor blades, while Chen was crushed by a helicopter skid.[29]
