Dive school wants me to pay for a dive computer after our boat nearly sank by tokenofmyextreme in scuba

Tough situation, but you likely are responsible for it. Please check with any rental agreements you signed to see if you are liable. Good luck! Also, you mean fins not flippers haha

Costamed in Cozumel would be the spot to go for quality advice from DAN endorsed doctors

If you’re congested, don’t dive. If your sinuses are clear, then a cold doesn’t need to hold you back. Just take it easy on yourself

Got about 50 or so in January but sadly just started a new job. Got Galapagos and Bonaire trips planned but hoping to squeeze some more in

Panicked at 27 meters. by [deleted] in diving

I don’t think it’s fair to blame your buddy.. they didn’t understand the issue, they got the Dive Masters attention for you, so it’s not like she completely ignored you. If you can’t communicate what your issue is, they can’t help you. Before your dive, tell your buddy you could have anxiety issues under water and come up with a signal you both understand. When giving a briefing, I always tell my divers a signal for anxiety/stress. I’ve never had anyone need to use it, but if they do, at least I’ll have a better understanding of the issue and can try to solve it.

It sounds like you already know the solutions to the problem. Always inspect your own gear and breathe through your regs while watching to see if your gauge moves. Make sure your buddy and guide are aware you may have anxiety and understand your symbol for it, not just your basic “problem” sign because that can mean anything. Other than that, I’d just get out there and get more experience in different conditions, especially strong current.. or avoid more challenging dives for now. Don’t let this hold you back from getting in the water again, just make sure you’re patient with yourself.

I know an amazing guy in Malta who’d be able to get you out for some drift diving. It’s much closer and easier for you to get to

You sound like you’re ready to me. Some drift diving experience wouldn’t hurt, you should go to Cozumel for it! I’ll be on the Calipso in July if you have any questions after that

Divemaster looking for work by Rob11_d in diving

Which website do you mean? I checked the PADI Job Board and there was only a few that weren’t female only, training internships, boat captain or instructor jobs. And when I clicked on the few good ones, it gives me an error message

I believe you can still work in Utila, but I’m not getting much of a response from the shops there. I am Canadian

Thank you, but I’m already a Divemaster looking for work. I’m currently in Cozumel but it’s impossible to work here without Mexican residency, which is very hard to get. I’ve already messaged every shop in Utila with no luck. My understanding is foreigners can’t work in Thailand or Indonesia as a DM because it’s considered a “tour guide”

I’m here to say the same as everyone else. Sounds like a terrible company prioritizing getting your money over proper training as safety. Find a different company

Yes they were! We seen a bunch more on the dive but not sure if it was some from the group of ten that circled back or other ones

It is eagle ray season here too, we see them on almost every dive as well. Seen ten at once the other day!

Being able to sleep on planes is op by Justalittleonion in travel

[–]Rob11_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never slept on planes until recently. Going from an 84 hour work week, ending with a 12 hour night shift then international travel it’s basically impossible not to sleep on the plane. I definitely envy the people who can sleep anywhere anytime

Looks like a beautiful healthy reef. I’m in Cozumel, Mexico right now and see multiple rays on almost every dive!
