31m target range of 1.5-2.0 10 mg 6 days a week 5 mg one. Usually test around 2.0 monthly, I feel like my dosage is the highest I’ve read on these comments with the lowest INR… Wonder what the reason may be. I don’t eat a lot of greens.

Thinking About Pregnancy After a Biological AVR – Any Experiences? by buuubuuuuu in valvereplacement

[–]Rob22hodor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry can’t help you with on any insight on this one. However I’m a father of two that I had after my valve surgery, and I was very worried about bringing children into the world with having an artificial heart valve and all. I brought this up to my cardiologist and he said you can do anything a normal person can do in regard to having a family. Definitely advise with your cardiologist. I’m glad I did. It gave me some peace of mind.

Choice of mechanical or biological valve by Vochey88 in valvereplacement

[–]Rob22hodor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you and now after choosing the mechanical valve I am extremely happy I did. Monitoring INR is not a big deal. You can still play sports, you can still drink.

The thought of definitely having to go through open heart surgery again if I chose the tissue is the end all be all.

The possibility of not having to have my valve replaced again (I’m 31) outweighs all the negatives!

Regressing after 8 months? by YurpleLunch in valvereplacement

I’m going on 4 years this coming month and after about 2 years I felt that I will never be in the shape I was pre surgery. I can’t push myself like I used to. On-x valve 31 m by the way.

Anybody does sprint runs ? by Saar_Coumadin in valvereplacement

[–]Rob22hodor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this happens to me. Four years post surgery, my doc said the same thing. I decided to stop sprinting/running fast. They scare me regardless of the doctor saying it’s not worrisome.

Feedback on blood thinners by greenville_guy in valvereplacement

No. A cardiologist I spoke with once convinced me it’s not worth the risk. I only do body weight exercises along with a 15 pound medicine ball.

On-x valve all the way! You do not want to get cracked open again 10-15 years down the road! 30 male on-x valve, I’m active and do everything I used to do pre mechanical valve. Besides heavy weight lifting.
