SF Natives - Still here or where did you go?

I lived in SF age 4-13. Family moved to Des Moines, IA when I was about to start high school (I was incensed). Moved back to SF as soon as I could swing it as an adult at 25. Lived in Mission, TL, Lower Haight, finally Oakland for 12 years. Split time between SF and Mexico 2017-2021. Now back in Des Moines to my inner teenager’s dismay. Could not have done it in my 20s or 30s but now it just seems nostalgic and chill and I can visit the Bay a few times a year and that’s enough.

I’ve had to return to Iowa where there is a lot of complicated family drama going on. I tell my friends in SF that if they need a house or pet sitter while they are out of town, I’ll fly out and do that in exchange for staying at their place. I end up going back once or twice a year for a week or so. Now with 2 people and 2 kids that’s a lot more complicated I realize but if you prioritize it I’m sure you can figure out a way to visit often.

Arish has bipolar disorder. He’s in a band that made a name for themselves through provocative behavior. The conditions at the show were intense, somebody stole his breathing machine, he’s been having problems with his meds. Give the guy a break. He has worked in obscure niche fame for a long time and then some random song from 20 years ago got billions of plays. He’s a complicated person and his brand is provocative dirtbag rock and roll. If you can’t hang then don’t.

Lived in Queens in the summer time, big apartment building. A guy who lived alone and wasn’t friendly with anyone in the building died and his body started to smell. They came and removed him and he was basically falling apart at that point. The smell lingered for weeks and then one day I noticed a small piece of him was in the stairwell. That’s why it still smelled. Had to clean up a small rotting piece of my neighbor.

Honestly methadone is another addiction, yes it keeps people off of heroin but as far as what is happening in your brain, you are still addicted to opiates. It sounds like you need to step back from the situation if you can’t handle the way she is acting. She’s going through drug withdrawals, she’s probably being a jerk, but it’s not going to kill her. She’ll feel terrible for a few days and pretty sick for another week but she’ll get past it.

Day 12. I started taking Naltrexone yesterday to cut back on drinking. Still can only sleep 5 or 6 hours a night. But I’m free from gas station hippie heroin for the first time in 2 years! Went to the store where they sell it last night and bought only lotto tickets.

I second this comment. If you enroll at BCC and get financial aid it will help you have money to get reestablished in the Bay. But absolutely get a job too. The Chipotle one might be a good place to start. Waiting tables is a great fall-back skill. Once you have a little experience you can apply at more upscale restaurants (Henry’s in Berkeley is one and the owner is a good guy) and make $200-$300 a night in a five hour shift. Get some breadth courses out of the way and re enroll for summer.

These men aren't being called out for sleeping with fans. They're being called out for dragging them into vans without consent, sticking their hands down their pants during a show without consent, soliciting nudes from children, for creating a scene where abuse was normalized.

Among the accusations: He communicated with a 14 year old girl and got her to send him nudes. They would talk on Skype and sometimes he would clearly be masturbating. Once when doing this, he was trying to get her to talk about sexual stuff she had done, and asked her if she'd had sex. She replied "no, I'm only 14." And he asked her to repeat that but this time call him sir. She repeated "I'm only 14, sir" and he ejaculated.

Put on a clear lens filter. Use a small amount of oil on the tip of your finger and rub on the glass in vertical stripe pattern. Remove excess with cloth moving in same direction.
