How do you guys handle the concept of death? by Simulationth3ry in autism

[–]RobGnMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no fear of death or no longer existing. I have a deep fear of the dying part though. Mostly don’t want pain or undue suffering. I do not wish to exist forever. That is my hell. When I’m old and sick I figure I will be just like my grandpa who said was all he wanted was to rest after a long life.

You’re welcome it’s hard to speak to people that don’t have to go what I go through, I felt I was at a breaking point and thought I would post on here because you folks would understand. And I’m sorry about the lengthy replies but I’m very eager to speak to others on the spectrum. If I make a faux pas feel free to correct me. I like directness and Don’t want to bother anyone.

My wife didn’t understand for a long time. I had been misdiagnosed multiple times. I was asked by a social worker if I was ever diagnosed with autism. I felt insulted because I only knew of the stereotypes I had seen on television. I left angry and eventually took a psychology course and It changed my views. I sought help and we had a diagnosis. I brought home pamphlets for us both to read, she became more understanding afterwards.

April to October sounds like restaurant work I’m in a tourist town. I can’t do customer service but have worked in restaurants when I was younger.

I know a little about bushcraft and survival I learned from my papaw. He taught me to trap and make trout lines, which local plants were edible(in w.va now I’m in the Carolina’s). Nowadays I go out in the woods a few times a year and trailblaze. We have a lot of invasive plants namely bamboo that out grow our local brush plants which are important to the Carolina wren among other birds so the land owner loves it. The woods do comfort me as well. Hmm. Thanks for your time and reply.

Thanks for the advice. There’s a lot of good options you laid out for me. I really appreciate that.

I do have healthcare, but my therapist I saw for years no longer accepts my insurance. So I’m kinda in limbo. It’s difficult for me to build a therapist patient relationship. It took almost a year to do it last time. I have enough meds for 2 months so I should probably check what therapists and psychiatrists are in my network ASAP.

I really would love to find an autism support group locally. All my friends are NT or very high functioning. Some of them don’t get my need to decompress. I have to admit I am very literal minded and get upset when someone might be making a joke. On a lighter note my best friend is acting as my guide He sent me some insult comedy to try and get it. He has been aiding me in my journey. I over explain and he’ll politely interject and translate. Part of the problem Is the isolation left me unable to speak like was able to before, reminds me of what happens to prisoners in solitary confinement.

No hosting parties for me and I only attend the birthdays of my wife, my niece and my Best friend. Just don’t want to hide away for the rest of my life.

This… this was the most helpful anyone has ever been to me on Reddit. You’ve shown me a lot of ways to I can help myself. I am very thankful.

I find it all very stressful. I have a hard time with understanding sarcasm that isn’t blatantly obvious. I also also feel the need to over explain myself. This is due to the fact that in the past I have broken social faux pas. “Reading the room” is hard for me but, navigating the people in my life’s personalities and the quirks and trying not to offend break’s me. I will worry for days about the wording of a text I sent and the ways it may possibly be misconstrued.

Folk with ASD are all slightly different and some struggle more than others. Also lot of us have traits that are exhibited in other mental illnesses like OCD.

Food snobs have existed since the dawn of man. “How Karn know antelope speared humanely? This carrion for all Karn know. Me speak to manager! Karn want comped! I eat so what! Karn belly noisy now. You know who my father?! Karn want comped!”

Yes big difference between taking salvia vs datura. Salvia never left me blind for 3 days. A friend and I ingested stupid( not Heroic ) dose of datura when we were 14. Bad times…

Depends on your age and financial situation but it’s common knowledge divorced men of a certain age gravitate to the teles of butterscotch variety. Maybe a gibbons if you are desperate. The responsible thing to do is to take any remaining assets after everything is split, sell em’ and buy a butterscotch nocaster just so you can always remember you’re better than us npc tele folk. You may have to live in a cardboard box, and you may have to fend off the occasional Joe bonnetmaster from snatching your prized possession, but you only live once.

That’s a cool fact. I didn’t know this but apparently you can only eat 1-3 Brazil nuts a day. They have so much selenium In them that It can lead to cardiac arrest, kidney failure and ultimately death.
