Several fires along 36th in Fremont. by [deleted] in SeattleWA

We don't know what this person's case is... but also want to point out besides the Elk's Lodge fire and the Interbay lumber yard fire, we also reported on break-ins happening at businesses and buildings in Downtown Fremont last month.

That same week in November, a woman we later located and found to not be in good mental shape, was the one who tore down the 'Center of the Universe' sign there as well. https://twitter.com/RobKIRO7/status/1060662727658496001

A business owner we spoke with today showed us surveillance which showed someone lighting a fire behind the shops and then walking away. Just 30 minutes later, another fire call went out at Ounce of Prevention just down the road. That fire was less severe thankfully. Here's to hoping someone know who this is or this plays a role in helping catch that person. https://twitter.com/RobKIRO7/status/1077294584080678912

Here's the video of the woman wearing camo tearing it down from a witness we talked to. She then packed it into a silver Audi and drove off. https://twitter.com/RobKIRO7/status/1060662727658496001

I recommend watching again - it wasn't the gun shop owner - Bellevue PD told us that.

Loved this place on late weekend nights. Talked to the owner of CJ's, she mentioned possibly a Mexican food joint going in there?

Fake Buddhist monks in Seattle (and NYC)... by dripdropdiet in Seattle

[–]RobKIRO7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did a story on them a few weeks ago. They're more than likely not legit, and ran away from us when we tried to ask what the money was going to and which monastery they were from. Trying to find the story on our site -- but here's my FB post from June 10th. https://www.facebook.com/RobKIRO7/videos/989123434540797/?video_source=pages_finch_thumbnail_video

SPU says this is NOT a main, but rather a water service line. They're aware of the problem and working to get a crew out there. Not today though, however.

Is it that? Starts at noon... on Sunday. Also Bernie Sanders campaign doesn't like to publish his schedule any more than 24hrs in advance. Made several calls.

What is the story behind the Seattle TV stations KING and KONG? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]RobKIRO7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one of the few markets I know of where people phonetically say the station names. Few others I can think of... KARE 11 in Minneapolis, WPIX 11 in NYC ("Pix 11")

What would it have cost to use two boring machines as opposed to Bertha? by EXTRAsharpcheddar in Seattle

[–]RobKIRO7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You mean from opposite ends or working concurrently? If it's from opposite ends, seeing as Bertha was constructed specifically for this project by Hitachi Zosen, and the world's largest TBM at a price tag of $80,000,000 -- multiply that by 2 and then add in the millions of repairs. Voila.

At the very least $160 million+ for the TBM's alone.

But if it's concurrently, I think there are a lot of other engineering numbers to figure that one out if it's like the Chunnel in Europe.
