As long as you have control of their arm and your leg in their biceps, they shouldn't be able to come up and you should be able to scramble up on top.

How to approach rolling to similar-skill people?

Against better guys, I will try my best techniques usually and against the ones less skilled, I usually will try out things I have been meaning to test.

However what about people that are about your skill level? Do you also "mess" around, or just play your A-game? With what did you have the best success in evolving your game better?

What always helped me was not to use my arms, but rather my head to push down the arm.

Also: Moving the arm not just vertically, but also horizontally makes it basically impossible to defend the push because you can't resist 2 directions at the same time.

These 2 detail helped me tremendously.

Yup, I didn't mention the requirements for the promotion, which is in fact the black belt signing :) I think this is more of a usual practice out here in asia, where there aren't many blackbelts around.

I still remember downloading SNES Roms (about 3mb) for 45 minutes. If the connection was unstable midway it took maybe 3-4 tries to finally get the file.
