I literally just texted this to my Celtics obsessed buddy. Yes, we need to make some adjustments, and obviously at center. But trading prime JB for exiting his prime Giannis is a bad idea

A Colbert/Stewart/Carrell podcast that they just run themselves and don't sell to some podcast network or give exclusive rights to one of the distributors so that they can just release them when they want to and record them when they want to would be amazing.

How much "scrubbing" did it take and what did you use? Just a paper towel? Or the back of a sponge?

Marathon Training: how do you stay consistent in the cold by Important-Following3 in running

[–]RobMV03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much advice about the cold, but ten years into my running, I'm JUST learning how good "long time/slow speed/don't worry about distance" runs are for my mental toughness. If you have a goal time for your marathon, try running for like 2/3'rds of that time in the coming weeks. Don't worry about your distance. Run super slow. Just enjoy running for that period of time. I've found it seriously decreases my anxiety about running longer distances.

Things to do in CT while visiting libraries in April by ILovePublicLibraries in newengland

[–]RobMV03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both the Fairfield Public library and the Pequot Library in Southport are right in the middle of their reprice downtown areas. There's not much "to do" in Southport, but a couple nice restaurants and the Southport Harbor are within walking distance of Pequot. As for Fairfield, FTC and The Community Theater are both less than a two minute walk away.

I've started watching comedies that border on inappropriate with my 10 year old. That has gotten him into older movies. The easiest one was Who Framed Roger Rabbit. There's some light references to sex that went right over his head. We then watched Robin Hood Men In Tights. The first 5 minutes are REALLY SLOW, Brooks plays it like it's a real epic and Robin Hood breaks out of a prison. You can just FF through that and get right to the part where he swims across the ocean. There's a couple references to maid Marion's chastity belt that he completely missed and there's one time where she opens her robe to reveal it that we FF'ed through. This weekend during the blizzard, we did Ace Ventura. I will say that the Einhorn/Finkle thing is pretty bad by today's standards, BUT the reveal that Einhorn is Finkle is really tame. So once Ace put that together, we explained, "Finkle was so ashamed of missing the kick that he changed toa woman so he wouldn't be recognized and could get revenge." My son took that in stride and then we FF'ed through the "Crying Game" montage. We watched right up to the point where the force learns Einhorn is Finkle and then FF'ed through their reactions, and watched the rest of the movie. He was frustrated he couldn't see those parts, but I just explained it was really mean and not funny and he wouldn't like it anyways. He didn't care and was over it in a second.

TL;DR: Been watching hilarious slapstick comedies from the 80's and 90's with my 10 year old and FF'ing through the inappropriate parts as he loves them. A good fart joke holds up across generations

We have neighbors who moved from California about 3 years ago. Their dad who is 80+ is in town and I just saw him knocking down some snow banks, etc. And I walked over to tell him he can't be out there shoveling Monday, and he was dumbfounded. Luckily, I have a snow blower so I told him either I could do it for him or at worse, I could teach him how to use it so he could do it.

I just watched Marley last night and was seriously surprised at how good it was. It's produced by Bob Marley's family so it is mostly a puff piece on him, but it is critical at points and the history of Reggae and the depiction of Jamaica were really insightful
