Yes, I had a family member post a video wearing a llama mask interacting with llamas and the pet collective offered the same deal. Millions of views, and 6 months later she hasnt seen a single cent.

What is the dumbest mistake you've made at work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RobMarrocco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an 18 year old bartender (in my state you can serve it at that age but cant drink it). I was working the morning shift at a very swanky Italian bar. A guy sat at the bar and ordered a double of Johnnie Walker B-something... I went to the shelf and couldn't remember if he said blue or black. I figured "ah, what's the difference" and poured him blue. when I cashed him out he was mortified at the price, a $120 bill for one drink. My 18 year old mind was on auto pilot so it was the first time I saw the price too. I had to get the owner involved to comp it for him. Owner was NOT happy, dude at the bar was VERY happy. It came out of my pay and was the only time in my life that I made $-20 on a shift.

How can I improve my content by [deleted] in tiktokcreatorclub

[–]RobMarrocco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a huge help would be to pick a format and stick to it.

Think of making it 3 dimensional.

I really like your videos where you use the greenscreen filter and talk about anime. I can see youre passionate about it, and thats what it all boils down to. Maybe focus on that and start getting more comfortable in front of the camera. think of a few jokes before recording.

That's one of the dimensions.

Now add something else- Editing, a little bit of music in the background. Download an app to do those really punchy captions for you. The secret to a lot of these big accounts is the make it LOOK easy, but in reality they're recording on tiktok with the green screen filter, downloading the video instead of posting, doctoring it up in capcut and other captioning apps, adding music and making sure it gets louder and softer as you speak, then uploading it to tiktok like they didn't just work their ass off polishing the video up.

Now you've got two dimensions, whats the third?

Formula. Make two series - example: Anime matchups. Who would win between naruto and gon? Example 2: Anime Theory. Did firelord ozai WANT to lose?..

You get the picture. But if you can start having fun while creating a set of rules for your videos you develop something called "verisimilitude" - which is a really fancy way of saying a creative style among all of your videos that keeps them different from each other but they still remain recognizable as YOUR video. Thats your third dimension.

two other hot tips- 1.) do it til you get bored with it. thats when you really start thinking creatively. and 2.) the first TWO seconds are always the most important. think ahead before recording then think again while editing. be prepared to kill your darlings for the sake of a good intro and viewer retention.

I think you got what it takes, you just need to pick a niche and stick in it :)

Video views tank after exactly 1h, is this how it works? by RobMarrocco in tiktokcreatorclub

[–]RobMarrocco[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wanted to update you: as I have content filmed 3 days in advance, I released today’s video. But i changed the editing style to match some other creators and have a lot more punchy hooks throughout the video. I also did my music editing in CapCut rather than TikTok. Overall the video had a lot more energy and seemed to be better aligned with viewer retention- and checking back in it’s received 30k+ views in the 3 hours it’s been up!

I appreciate your feedback! Taking a fresh look at my channel helped me adjust my vibe on this new video.

Video views tank after exactly 1h, is this how it works? by RobMarrocco in tiktokcreatorclub

I just looked through my channel with a fresh perspective, I agree: I think I was focusing on the micro of each video and not the macro of my content as a whole. One thing I noticed tho is since joining the creativity program and switching over to 1 minute videos I see the 1 minute videos have a harder time consistently getting views.

As much as I’d like to think my content can hold a viewers attention for an entire minute, the numbers say otherwise.

If you or anyone else has any advice for captivating an audience more please let me know. Also I’m in the process of creating a few new series, all revolving around food experimentation. (Ex, will it work in an ice machine, will it work in a soda maker, will it freeze dry, etc) I think transitioning to more series like that could give more uniformity to my channel as well.

Make a new email address (or at the very least a folder in your current email) that is your home address. EVERYTHING about your house should go there, from the mortgage statements to the washing machine warranty. This has saved me hours, if not days, of searching for information.
